Following a period of economic growth that led to out-sized confidence, the Economian government tried to transfer the notion that more is preferred to less from consumer spending to the sky.
An attempt was made to decrease national electricity costs by seeding the clouds over hydroelectric generating stations with microscopic iron filings. By encouraging perpetual localized rain, the hope was turbines would always be operating at full capacity. Instead, the iron coalesced within the clouds, creating iron bars that fell to earth, killing people, animals and plant life and significantly damaging the nation’s hydroelectric infrastructure.
