I’ve used the term “soundscape” often when I try to describe the tracks I feature here, but what exactly do I mean by that? Every song begets a location, whether intended or not. When I listen to an artist like Burial, I imagine riding the subway at night, the rattling of the car soaking my weary bones, but that ability to feel makes me that much stronger as a person. Likewise, when I hear a track like “Native Child” by Canopy Canvas, I am immediately transported to snowy hilltops, coasting through the peaks and valleys of the countryside, the bracing cool air making me feel just a touch more alive. Every listener’s mileage may vary; you may have a very different experience taking in a track like “Native Child”. All I can really say is that it’s worth the listen. You can hear all of Canopy Canvas’ newest, R e a l m, over on Bandcamp; as always, enjoy.
