Heated Rivalry Ya’ll

okay this series has made me think about my own sexuality and coming out journey. For some context, I was partially raised in a very religious setting throughout my teen years and that resulted in a lot of suppression of self-expression and exploration. As a lesbian, episode six really resonated with me in how Shane comes out to his mom. Apologizing for being gay and that he tried really hard not to be. I don’t think straight people will ever be able to comprehend how difficult and painful that journey can be for a lot of queer people. A lot of times it tends to be something that is viewed through the lens of fear and denial for those in the community. For me, this kind of representation really matters in our media because there isn’t nearly enough proper portrayal of what it means to be queer. That being said, I can’t wait for season 2.
