This started with the idea of “What if Nozomi was alone?” And it very much devolved from there.
Which has some issues surrounding it. One, there needs to be five Precures to save Nuts. Two, she immediately told Rin what Happened. Three, Nozomi immediately started hunting down the other cures.
So, I solved these issues by changing the first big battle.
During that battle, Coco would reveal to Nozomi that the enemy attacking this world wants to use the wish Collet to bring about basically the end of the world, but the wish collet can only be opened with all five of the Precure present. Before Coco can finish though, he gets grabbed, beaten up, and then kidnapped. The battle turns for the worst as Nozomi, rather than winning, just barely escapes with her life.
So, Rather than Nozomi being excited about being a superhero, she’s extremely scared because of the big act of violence she just saw and experienced. And although she may be slow, she realizes that she absolutely needs to ensure the dream collet cannot be used no matter what.
And that means ensuring that the other Precure never wake up no matter what.
At first, Nozomi was going to tell Rin about everything going down, but when she saw an orange-ish red butterfly float towards her friend, she realized she couldn’t.
Rin couldn’t become a Precure. It’s too dangerous. Nozomi can’t do much, but she can at least protect her friend.
Well, her friends. Over time, Nozomi caught onto who was supposed to be the other cures. She’d see the butterflies around them. So, she’d ensure they’d never awaken. And if she had to become friends with them to make it easier, all the better!
But the thing is, Pretty Cure is not meant to be one person. Nozomi cannot handle this alone. She tries, oh boy she tries. But she cannot stop every casualty, and the destruction caused by the attacks are growing daily.
People are scared and dying and Nozomi is trying. She is trying so hard.
No one knows she is Cure Dream. She has Zero support. Zero guides. It’s only her and a locked dream collet. But she’ll do everything she can to protect the people she loves.
But then I ran into a different problem: How do we deal with Milk?
If she came by and told Nozomi everything, the miscommunication falls apart and we basically hard swerve back onto a mostly normal AU.
So, instead of finding Nozomi, she finds Karen. Or, well, Karen finds her, sick and afraid.
After some time and some bonding, milk explains that she’s a fairy from the palmier (?) kingdom who’s in hiding, as she slowly gets to know more of the girls. She also explains how there’s meant to be more Precures, and she doesn’t know why there’s only one.
She basically spends a lot of time hiding on Karen’s person. After a bit, she accidentally meets Komachi, then Urara, then Rin. Then, lastly, Nozomi.
Nozomi works hard to hide the fact that she’s a Precure. Because she has to protect the people she loves. But now Milk is saying she (well, cure dream) should bring in the other cures.
But that’ll only bring about the end of the world!
Everything comes to a head when they learn the truth about themselves and Nozomi. Many bad things happen.
But somehow, at the end of the day, they’re okay. And maybe, that’s all we can ask of them.
