I cannot stop thinking about selectively mute Travis. He was the only one to understand Javi when he wouldn’t talk. Everyone was always confused on how Travis always knew what he needed, but it was just like when Travis would go mute just reversed. They created their own little language too. Then when he saw how Natalie interact with Javi while he was mute, Travis felt so much comfort knowing that Javi could talk to someone else too without speaking. Knowing that there was someone who respected his silence as much as he did.

Then after Javi died, Travis wasn’t talking again, and when Natalie gave him that same compassion he broke down.

Let me say first I have not finished Yellow Jackets yet nor am I very far and spoiler warning I suppose

That being said I keep thinking about selectively mute Travis. Travis, who thought he grew out of it when he reached middle school, but because of all the shit that happens when they crash he finds himself doing it again. When his dad died everyone thought he was being an asshole, saying one or two words or none at all and only talking to Javi. In reality he just didn’t know how to deal with it. Then, when Javi came back and he wouldn’t talk Travis knew not to push because he knows what it feels like. He knows he’ll talk when he’s ready. I just think it’s neat 😛
