Catherine Rolt is Anti-Hustle Culture
🌟Catherine Rolt, author of The Pain Paradox, has a huge mission, which was the driving force behind writing her book. She believes that pain is our friend and is trying to teach us something that we've likely been avoiding. Ignoring unpleasant events, relationships, or unresolved issues isn't so hard to do when you've become detached from who you are. When you're singularly focused on what is wrong with you, rather than what is right. Then there's the problem of our hustle culture, which ignores our natural rhythms, the ones that coincide with the seasons. Rush, rush, rush, stuff, stuff, stuff. Until you're in pain and on the floor. And western medicine can't find the root cause. Today Catherine joined me to discuss The Pain Paradox, and give each of us go-getters the permission to follow our natural rhythms, tune into our bodies, and uncover our potential so we can live life with far more joy and ease. I think you'll fall in love with Catherine, just as I have.

The cicadas are out, everywhere -- and I mean everywhere. Dr. Wes here, I know some people think these weirdly colorful locust-like critters are creepy-looking, but as a musician often inspired by nature, gotta admit there's something uniquely fascinating and haunting about the sound that the cicadas make when they finally emerge and take over the forests every 17 years. Natural rhythms often have their own music to them, and there's a certain beauty to the sound that these intriguing creatures make in their curious mating rituals. Besides, you gotta feel some pangs of sympathy for the poor little guys. After all, no matter how badly the US Incel-verse may have it from time to time, just imagine having to wait 17 years for your one shot at the dating scene -- and having to evade hordes of hungry birds, frogs, fish, and Lord knows what other predatory monsters are lurking while you're at it. . . . . . #cicadas #naturalcycles #naturalrhythm #naturalrhythms #naturesmusic #forest #soundsofnature #17years #naturalsounds #woods #cicadasounds #soundsoftheforest #incels #incelverse #forestsounds #eeriesounds #eeriesound (at Chapel Hill, North Carolina) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPZyjMQDjmQ/?utm_medium=tumblr

LIGA family - natural rhythms
Intro
This scene, maybe more than any other that I have seen until now proves how images cannot exist independently of us, as an audience, or of the world that which has created it and where it returns. This scene is shocking in many ways: for its brute force, its explicit content, its symbolism. At the same time I could find in this image a strange comfort where the outrageous is overcome by a sense that ‘everything is the way it is supposed to be’. I try to explore more this position of in-between-ness by using my own recording of the scene as a magnifying lens.
Natural rhythms
What I mean by in-between-ness is not a paradox-situation. It is not a question of simultaneity (being outraged by the brutality of the gestures while understanding that this belongs to a deeply rooted tradition), but rather of relatedness (how the image relates to our perception of the world, how it stands between us and the world). This perception posits the image as a manifestation of its inner being, its natural rhythm.
Exploring natural rhythms
Marie Mondzain affirmed about the nature of the image that: ‘ the image is present inside the same texture of phenomenon that form its vault (…) The image is formed inside the pulsation of the real, that captures us, and life, which liberates us. The image is a manifestation of rhythm’. Is there a way to make the natural rhythm of the image emerge, to render it perceivable? According to Jean Marie Mondzain it is not possible, as any of our gesture in this direction would be inscribable into the manifestation of knowledge and in order for an image to reveal its natural rhythm, we would need to liberate ourselves of any knowledgeable act. Is this liberation possible for us?
Notes
Liberating ourselves from any knowledgeable gesture could appear as a complex and consequently impossible gesture. I propose to get close to loosing our knowledgeable selves by letting intuition take over. By re-filming the scene in an intuitive way and presenting it for what it stands, I intend to go beyond the concept of image as a means of communication or knowledge. The process takes the role of a magnifying lens, a void imagery mirror that approaches the image as it is: an appearance.
