enchanted morning

Living in South Park was a pain. The bitter cold, cleaning ice off your car, finding a virgin to sacrifice to the gods for a good hair day—there were times Bebe Stevens felt like she’d never make it through the eternal winter. She dreamed of a future where she could wear cute shorts and crop tops year-around. A future that had tropical plants growing all around her, and a warm-watered ocean just feet away from her front door. But, even she could admit that sometimes, their little mountain town had its perks.
Spending Sunday morning under a blanket, the sunlight falling on her skin as gentle as a kiss, and the sweet smell of coconut on her pillow, were a few of them.
A mess of golden curls bounced around her head as she roused from slumber, her jaw open wide like a lioness mid-roar. Luckily, the only sound that escaped was the sigh of a yawn. And when she bared her teeth, it was in a smile as she glanced to the sleeping form beside her.
Wendy Testaburger.
She looked as elegant as always. Pale skin, dark hair, and a delicacy to her features that reminded Bebe of a fairy tale character. If it weren’t for the slow rise and fall of her breathing, she might’ve even believed the chill at night snuck in deliberately to freeze her best friend. To stop time. To capture her this way forever, so she could be placed under a glass case and admired by all. There weren’t any apples involved in this story, but as Bebe leaned in closer, she couldn’t help but feel close to taking a bite out of something forbidden.
A curse fit for a princess.
Bebe’s gaze followed the gentle curve of Wendy’s black eyebrows, down the bridge of her nose, and finally fell on petal lips, parted slightly.
A curse that could only be broken by—
“Boo!” Bebe screamed as loud as she could, hands attacking Wendy at her sides as she tickled her awake. “Wake up, Wendy~ I’m hungry!”
