Also known as fools gold Pyrite was first discovered officially in 1432. Though pyrite has been known and used for thousands of years it was formally named in 1432.
Known as "fools gold" as well pyrite was given this nickname due to how many prospectors it fooled during the gold rush and many years following.

Orangutans are more than beautiful rainforest icons — they are intelligent, tree-dwelling guardians that help keep forests alive. 🦧🌿
By spreading seeds and supporting rainforest growth, they play a powerful role in their ecosystem. Sadly, orangutans are critically endangered due to deforestation, palm oil expansion, habitat loss, and the illegal pet trade.
Sharing this to help raise awareness for these incredible animals and the forests they call home. 🧡
One of my own ( Shitasoaras I need to add this to my stuff)
Pyrite on Calcite
El Hammam Mine Meknes, Fes-Meknes Region, Morocco
Pyrite often times after forming from Hydrothermal activity or bacterial processes clings to surfaces with edges and groves that share similar geological settings. Being that Calcite is often plentiful in the area and forms first it's a perfect setting for the Pyrite to grow.
This is a first for me. I have plenty of Pyrite on Quartz but not Calcite.

This one of my BIGGEST highlights from the gemshow I attended this year and normally go to every year.
This is a Sphalerite on Quartz. I saw this and I knew I had to have it. I had been looking for one of these specimens for years.
