✘ CLOSED STARTER — N A T E M O O N ( @naweyn )
She’d barely managed to trudge her way to the breakfast table the next morning. As if it had carried over from the night prior, Malia’s nose continued to sniffle sadly. While she could feel her mother’s intense glare, the girl decided to do her best to avoid any eye contact, opting to get lost in the bacon and eggs that sat on the plate before her. Snapping her out of her daze were heavy footsteps on the staircase. Unless her mother had a new partner that she didn’t know about, the sound could only come from one person: Nate.
Her dear big brother who meant the entire world to her had stood her up on her birthday. And if that weren’t bad enough, Malia hadn’t heard anything from him for the entirety of the day— not even a text. Thoughts from the night before came rushing back as she watched him make his way over to his seat at the table, sleepily. Did he forget about her? Or did he just not care anymore? Malia tried to remember if she’d done anything to upset him in the weeks prior, but to no avail. Should she bring up the issue first? The girl munched down on her bacon as her thoughts battled back and forth. No, she wouldn’t. If he wanted her to forgive him, he’d have to make the first move.
