VOLUNTEERS WANTED!

JMWristbands is pleased to announce that the VHIP table will be continued on through the winter tour! An educational booth will be set up at the venue at each show where people can learn more about VHIP, and sign up to join the VHIP online community. We are looking for people who want to help out at the booth, and are giving you guys the first opportunity to get on the volunteer list! If you are interested in volunteering, you can sign up here.

VHIP - tonight in Albuquerque...

Few people probably know that John Mayer has cofounded a program called VHIP (Veterans Health Partnership) w. NCIRE. And I'm sure that many of you have not heard that $1 from each ticket on The US Tour is donated to fund this program.

VHIP, which is going to support specific health needs of post-9/11 Veterans and aims to ease the transition from deployment to civilian life, is funded entirely by Mayer and this tour.

Even though the startop money has come straight out of John's pocket - quite a large amount of the donations are thus coming from fans. Either from donations, via. Volunteer work or via. Ticketsales. In other words MUSIC Lovers and JM Fans are doing a difference for US veterans.

At the US leg of The Born And Raised World Tour you will be able to meet up with fans like myself. I was working at the show in Atlanta w. a lovely group of fans and will also be working tonight in Albuquerque and tomorrow at the show in Phoenix. 

Come over to the booth - say hello and while your there - have your picture taken in front of the Paradise Album cover and get a free JM Wristband - just by showing your support to the cause.

Weekend Recap: Music, Caring and Goodness

Sue and I had are just winding down from our weekend road trip which started in Chicago, then Indianapolis, and ended in Springfield.   

We had the pleasure of volunteering with some really excellent people this weekend. 

In Chicago we had a volunteer, Candace, who was volunteering in the memory of her friend who was injured in Iraq and suffered from PTS.  Hearing her tell his story brought me to tears.  To make the long story short, he joined the military because he had no where else to go, he got injured in combat, and was even awarded a purple heart. Unfortunately , he just couldn't cope with the effects of war, and took his own life.  

Candace was fantastic.  She actually had such a great time, and was so passionate about what we were doing that she came back and helped us volunteer in Springfield. It was pretty amazing.   

In Indianapolis we were able to meet up with a friend, his wife and their 10 year old daughter Isabelle. They volunteered and Isabelle was THE GREATEST!  Some of you may have seen Isabelle's picture on the JohnMayer.com official twitter. Her favorite song is Neon and she was certain he wouldn't play it... But he did! She really was the happiest 10 year old ever!

In Springfield we had a volunteer who was an injured veteran. She was so amazing. Her story was heartbreaking and unfortunately so common to veterans returning home.  She told the group of volunteers a little bit about her time in the Marines and the Army (that's right, BOTH) and also gave us some really shocking facts.  She said that Veterans DON'T have healthcare. Like most of us who have jobs and are offered healthcare benefits, they do not have that option. If they get sick they can't just go to the VA as there are not enough doctors and without private healthcare, most cant afford to see a regular doctor. She was injured in combat and still has to wait to get the full treatment she needs from the VA. It's just unreal. We really felt honored to have her with us. 

To sum things up, John spoke a lot on stage this weekend about seeing so much good in his fans. There is no truer statement and we are still amazed at the opportunity to experience this first hand. 

One last thing, after talking to Candace about her friend, she asked that we never give up on this cause.

  Some of you have asked if we will be selling wristbands on tour this summer.  Well the answer is…

  YES!

  JMWristbands will be available for sale at EVERY SHOW on the U.S tour. 

So, come find us at the NCIRE table located inside the venue (you won’t miss it because other fun stuff will be happening there), learn some stuff about John’s involvement with NCIRE and buy a wristband!
