Partners?
Kensi and Deeks walked into the suspect’s apartment guns in hand. “NCIS!” The pair yelled in sync. The man stood frozen in the living room staring at the both of them before taking off out throw the window and down the fire escape. “I got him!” Kensi yelled rushing out after him as Deeks hustled down to the car. Kensi was right on the suspect's heels. She finally cornered him against a building and an old dump yard fence. The man rushed her, but Kensi was quick to react. It wasn't long before Kensi had the suspect face down on the ground. She was pulling out the cuffs when he flipped her onto her back. Everything happened so fast. He shoved her down onto the ground. In his hand was her father's knife. He must've took it when they batted. The man smirked and as Kensi tried to fight against him. "Put the knife down!" Deeks ordered with his gun raised. The suspect panicked, and shoved the knife into Kensi's lower abdomen. She let out a loud yelp. The suspect got up and Deeks threw him against the fence. He cuffed the man to one of the railings and returned his attention back to Kensi. “Eric I need a medic ASAP," Deeks demanded, he was a little flustered. "Hey Kensalina. How ya feeling?" Deeks asked, trying to remain as calm as possible. Her hand reached for the knife that was still penetrating her stomach. "Hey! Leave-" Deeks was caught off by another cry from Kensi as she pulled the knife out. The blood was seeping out quicker without the obstruction of the knife. "God dammit," Deeks muttered, taking off his sweater. He applied pressure to the one. She whimpered and softly begged him to stop. Deeks knew this was his only option rather than letting her bleed out. In the distance, he heard faint sirens. "Ya here that Princess? You're going to be just fine." Callen and Sam arrived along with the medics who took Kensi into an ambulance. “You guys-uh good here?” Deeks said getting into the ambulance. They nodded and Kensi and Deeks were on their way to the hospital. The stab wound was deep and Kensi was loosing a lot of blood. She lightly took his hand as he squeezed back tightly. “I-I’m sorry Deeks I-“ she began to whisper as Deeks cut her off. “Kensi you’re going to fine. You're going to be great. We've still got tons of more moments. Ya here me?" He said as she nodded. As soon as the pulled up, Kensi was brought straight into surgery. Deeks was pacing back and fourth when Sam and Callen arrived. “Deeks she’s a fighter she’ll make it out,” Sam said trying to get him to calm down. "I know, but it doesn't make me worry any less." “She’s stable. She had some minor internal bleeding but we stopped it and were just going to keep her overnight but she should be able to go home tomorrow. She’s in room 334,” the doctor said a few hours later. Deeks thanked the doctor and headed straight to her room. He stopped at the door and chuckled slightly as the pissed off look on her face. Kensi Blye hated to lose. She was sitting up and her tired eyes caught his as he entered the room. “Hey Deeks,” she said a little scratchy because of her dry throat. “Kens how are you? I-I’m sorry I let this happen.” He said. Kensi sighed she knew this was coming, “Deeks this is not you’re fault. I got hurt and was stupid and now im paying the price." “Just try not to do it again okay partner?” Deeks said attempting to lighten the mood. “Only if you do the same.” "Does it hurt?" He asked guiltily looking at her gauze covered stomach. "Y-yeah but I deserve it I should have been ready-" Kensi protested. Deeks took her hand and intertwined it with his. "Thank you for being here Deeks," Kensi said after a second of silence. "There's no where else I'd rather be partner," he responded. "Partner?" Kensi asked nervously. "Is girlfriend a better term?" He smiled. "So much better. So much better." She said as he lightly kissed her forehead. MERRY CHRISTMAS thegoldfishandtheangelfish!!! MUCH LOVE.

---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----
After the Christmas vacation their entire team had absolutely earned, Kensi and Deeks were on their way to work. It was too early in the morning, the car radio was playing electro music and Deeks was behind the wheel. And for Deeks’ surprise, Kensi was fine with it. Or so she had said when he had asked her if she was serious and just drank from her takeaway coffee cup.
So they were going to work. Together. In more sense than one.
The vacation had been good. They had barely left the cottage they were staying in but they still went snowboarding as decided before the vacation and before the whole getting-together-thing. When they returned to Los Angeles the night before, they went to Kensi’s place because Deeks had overpacked for the trip and had a change of clothes in his suitcase.
It had been pretty domestic, waking up next to each other every morning, stealing kisses here and there, getting up first to make coffee so that the other who was still in bed could get an extra few minutes of sleep. But still it somehow wasn’t so different from before: they still marathoned America’s Next Top Model and bickered just like they had bickered for the past five and half years. It was actually a relief for them that not much had really changed after finally deciding to be more than work partners and best friends. They were now partners in every meaning of the word.
When Deeks parked the car and was getting out, Kensi suddenly snatched his hand in hers. He shut the door and looked at her, waiting for her to tell him what was wrong.
“First you should know that I am not backing out of this thing.” Deeks smirked at her choice of words. “Whatever, you know what I mean. A thing, a relationship, whatever you wanna call it. But my point is that we’re in this together and whatever comes at us, we will face it together. And together we are stronger than we’d be if we were alone.”
With a small smile on her face, Kensi continued. “Second, can we please let the others figure it out themselves and not tell them bluntly? Hetty knows already, so…”
“What?! How could Hetty know? We’ve literally been out of town and we came back yesterday. How could she know already?” Deeks yelled. His eyes went wide and he couldn’t do anything but stare at Kensi in shock.
“Really, Deeks? Have you not worked with us for half a decade? It’s Hetty, of course she knows.” Kensi didn’t even try to resist the urge to roll her eyes even though she was just teasing him.
“Well, I’m okay with whatever you want, Kens. But my only condition is that I want to be there when Sam and Callen finally figure it out.”
They got out of the car, heading inside the mission and to their workspace.
“Let’s make a bet, Fern. I say that Callen is the first to figure out that we’re are… whatever we are.”
“Okay. I say that it’s gonna be Nell who figures it out first. But what are we betting on?”
“Loser gets to explain to the entire team by themselves and answer to all the why, when and how questions that are most likely going to be asked?” Deeks suggested, kissing her on the cheek after checking that they were alone in the corridor.
“Deal.” Kensi grinned and very un-Kensi likely almost skipped to her desk.
Whatever the outcome of the bet would be, Deeks was fine with it as long as they stood next to each other against the world.
Merry Christmas and to Idristardis and happy holidays to all of you!
This is sadly blocked in some countries (and I have no idea how to fix that) but just message me if you can’t see it then I can upload it to tumblr directly instead of linking through YT.
NCIS: LA Secret Santa
Happy holidays, hecalledherfern! Hope you enjoy this little oneshot!
“You cannot be serious right now,” Kensi insisted as she and Deeks walked into the bullpen.
“What are you two arguing about now?” Sam groaned. He had hoped that when they became a couple at the start of the holiday season, the tension between his coworkers would have dissipated, but he was quickly discovering that was not the case.
“He thinks that Felicity is going to end up with Ray Palmer,” Kensi explained, setting her bag down on her chair. “On Arrow?” she continued, trying to connect the dots in Sam's head. Sam shook his head.
“It’s completely plausible,” Deeks argued.
“Not a chance,” Kensi refused. “She bought him a love fern.”
“What exactly is a love fern?” Callen interrupted, finally joining the rest of the team. Before any of the others could respond, Eric whistled from the top of the stairs.
“Crime fighters assemble!” he called.
“We’re not the Avengers,” Sam pointed out as he passed the technical operator on the stairs.
“You don’t know that. They’re called secret identities for a reason,” Eric pointed out.
--
“You know, I would have thought that you would hate the idea of a love fern." They had paused their conversation when they left the OSP to review the details they knew for the case, but Deeks restarted it when they arrived at the crime scene.
"Why would I be opposed to a love fern?" Kensi asked.
"Well, for one, you're a notorious plant killer. I mean, who kills a cactus?" he began. She opened her mouth to argue, but decided against it. "And second, you hate when I call you fern." She laughed at the latter comment, recalling some of their earliest undercover work together, and followed her partner into the home to search for evidence. "Besides, aside from the love fern, what does Oliver have that Ray doesn't?"
"The point of the love fern is not just the fern!" she exclaimed, aggravated by her partner. He jumped at the sudden change in her tone. He redirected his attention to the scene before him.
"Hold on, I think I've got something here."
--
"Thanks Eric, we're on our way," Kensi confirmed, hanging up her phone and sliding into the car. "Address is on your phone," she told Deeks, unlocking his phone and pulling up the GPS system.
"So, if the point of the love fern isn't just the fern," he began.
"It's the love," she explained. "Despite everything they've been through, they keep trying. I guess that part of me wants to believe that they can make it even though they don't always believe that they can," she shrugged.
"Are you talking about them, or are you talking about us?" he checked, reaching across the console. "Because, for the record, I may not believe in Oliver, but I sure do believe in us."
