͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏For the past two weeks, Mark had found himself awake far past midnight, surrounded with loose papers and piles of textbooks. On occasion, he’d be joined in his late-night studying by his roommates Donghyuck and Lucas, though for completely different reasons. Hyuck and Lucas tended to procrastinate and cram for 8am tests or finalize papers due at 9 the next day, while Mark’s work was always on time and never rushed— he just seemed to focus better at 2am.  

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏The only problem Mark had with his new habit was that he easily worked up an appetite. This didn’t remain an issue for long, however, when Lucas returned to their dorm one day at 1am raving about the cookie shop near the bookstore that stayed open until 3am. Mark took note of this, knowing his only other late-night options would be pizza or whatever ramen or chips he could find in his room, and took advantage of his knew knowledge  the next day.

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏Hands shoved deep in his pockets as a feeble attempt to keep warm from the chilly early morning air he shuffled his way to the bookstore which was, luckily, close enough to walk to that he didn’t need to bus or board.

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏”Welcome! What can I get started for you?” a voice called before Mark even fully entered the small shop. 

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏A long ‘umm’ fell from his lips, almost as quickly and instinctually as the other’s greeting. He lifted his gaze from phone after stopping his music, accidentally making eye contact with the employee as he did so, causing him to blush lightly and look away

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏In that small moment before he looked away, Mark had noticed, and had started to become infatuation with, the other’s patient demeanor and how they’re hair fell just right and how cute they looked in the store apron and- “I’m not, uh,” he cut off his own thoughts, “I’m not sure yet,” he voiced more shyly than he would’ve hoped, adding a small smile.͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏He proceeded to stare at the menu and bakery case for probably too long before deciding on an almost too mundane order of half a dozen chocolate chip cookies to-go. 

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏This went on for days͏ and as Mark settled into this new routine, he got more and more comfortable talking to the cute employee  whose shifts always seemed to line up perfectly with his cravings. 

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏“The usual?” they’d begin to ask him, earning a small nod of confirmation.

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏Soon, they started preparing it in advance, having gotten used to Mark’s schedule, so it would be ready for him to just pick up upon arrival. This, of course, didn’t go unnoticed by Mark. In fact, it only made his infatuation stronger.

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏Some nights, he found himself lugging his computer to the store in an effort to get away from his rowdy roommates and to work up the courage to talk to his crush. 

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏The connection between the two grew about as much as it could without either properly confronting their feelings or making an actual effort to get to know each other. Yet the connection was undeniable, and if anyone else were present during their moments, the would’ve picked up on the little hints they gave each other and would feel obligated to make a move for them.

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏However, no one else ever was there. 

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏At least, not until now, there wasn’t.

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏“Mark” Lucas whispered, stopping him from opening the door as he scrambled out of his top bunk.

͏͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏“Yeah?” he whispered back.

͏͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏“Let me go with you,” he pouted. “I’m bored.”

͏͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏Mark only groaned and waved his hand for Lucas to follow.

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏Mark’s usual order was already being prepped when they arrived, which led to a few teasing nudges and eyebrow wiggles from Lucas who proceeded to order something for himself. 

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏Moments later, Lucas loudly pulled up a chair and sat across from Mark at his usual table. “So,” he began, lowering his tone, “Is this why you always leave? Are you two dating? You do like them ri-”

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏"Shh, they’re gonna hear you.”

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏"HA ! So that’s a yes? You like th-”

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏“SHH !” Mark lowered his voice again, “Yeah, man, I think so but-”

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏“Hey, no buts, man. If you like them, then do something about it, ya know?”

when will the ugly ass nctzens stop complaining about the line distribution and fucking realize why it's so uneven ?? newsflash it's because johnny and yuta and winwin and literally whoever else ur complaining about is a dancer so instead of complaining about the lack of singing they do how about appreciate what they're supposed to do aka they're dancing ?? yuta was fucking center in regular and all i've seen is people complaining about how he hardly got lines and not enough people hyping him up for his dancing and it's !! so sad and no one ever talks enough about johnny or sicheng's dancing and !! yes i get being upset that you hardly hear your bias's voice ,, i'm a yuta stan ,, i get it i wish he'd sing more too but instead of being ungrateful for the one line he got in regular im gonna scream about how good the one line was and about how good his dancing is !! so pls stop complaining for no reason ,, besides ,, we haven't heard the whole album and who knows they could get more lines !! regular didn't have enough opportunities for lines anyways because it was rap centric / all of them singing at once but the moral of the story is to hype up ur bias for the position they hold in their group not the one they don't / you wish they did
