We need your help! For the next 10 days, we are calling on your creativity to submit as many prompts as possible to serve as inspiration for our lovely writers during the summer months! Prompting is totally anonymous, and carries no commitment! Submitting prompts does not in any way mean you’re obligated to participate in the fic festival as a writer - we just need ideas! And who knows, maybe one (or more) of your prompts will get adopted and at the end of summer, you’ll find yourself with a gift in the form of an amazing fanfic!

We received a brilliant response to the survey we conducted initially to gauge interest, so here we are, proud to present to you:
NCT WRITE WRITE SUMMER 2017!
Based on the responses we collected, the mods have decided that the first round of NCTWW will be a FIC PROMPT + CLAIMING FEST. In case some of you aren't familiar with the mechanics of a fic prompt + claiming fest, here is how it will go: there will be a set time frame where we'll be asking people to leave prompts. Once we've collected the prompts, we will be posting them in a spreadsheet and asking people to claim them for writing! Once claiming ends, writers will receive an email with their assigned prompt.
Our tentative timeline is as follows:
May 5 - Prompting starts
May 15 - Prompting ends
May 16 - Prompt reveals
May 25 - Claiming starts
June 1 - Claiming ends
July 1 - First check-in
August 2 - Writing ends
August 7 - Posting starts
August 12 - Posting ends + Guess who/author appreciation
August 15 - Reveals

We’ve put together (and flailed over) your prompts and shared them with all of you. We hope it’s been a fun reading experience, but now it’s time to get down to business! It’s claiming time! ＼(≧▽≦)／
Please read this post very, very carefully before you head over to our claiming form.
RULES TO FOLLOW:
1. Anyone may claim a prompt. You don't need to leave a prompt to claim one.
2. You may claim only ONE prompt from THIS prompt archive. If you want to claim another prompt, you must finish AND submit your current claim first. Prompts highlighted in blue are no longer up for claiming.
3. Your prompt fill must have a minimum of 1,500 words. You have nearly 3 months to write your desired prompt! Write it well! Treat your adopted prompt like a little pet you have to raise with love and care! (ﾉ´ヮ`)ﾉ*: ･ﾟ
4. Prompts will be given out on a first come, first served basis, which we will be checking based on a time signature at the bottom of the filled in form. (For example, if User A submits a claim for Prompt #1 at 1pm and User B submits a claim for Prompt #1 at 1:05pm, the prompt will go to User A who claimed it first.)
5. Do not discuss ideas for your assignment in public (Twitter, Tumblr, LJ, and other sites of the like). It takes away from the fun so we seek your understanding and hope to keep the anonymity alive until the reveals post goes up.
6. By claiming a prompt, you are agreeing to follow the rules of the fest and committing yourself to meeting all the deadlines. Should you need to drop out at any time, please let us know as soon as possible through email ([email protected]) and we'll put the prompt you've claimed back up for claiming.

Hello everyone! We hope you’re as excited for the start of prompting season as we are!
Prompting is the perfect platform for us in the fandom to be creative. If you have lots of ideas in your head about different situations you can see your favourite members in, now is the perfect time to share them. Who knows, maybe several of your prompts will get claimed, and you’ll have several dream fics to read!
Prompting officially starts on 5th May, 2017 at midnight KST, and will carry on until 15th May, 2017 at noon KST. You can check what time that is in your timezone here. We will be posting a link to the prompting form where you can submit your prompts on the day of prompting itself.
Here are some guidelines to familiarise yourself with before the start of prompting.

Here is an example of what the prompting form will look like:
THE PROMPT: They say it takes a while to find your soulmate. For Jaehyun and Winwin, it takes a broken nose, a band break up, and too many years spent skirting around each other while living in a hole in the wall apartment in Beijing with peeling paint and draughty evenings before they realise the only thing they’ve been looking for the whole time is each other.
RATING: NC-17
SQUICKS: Character death, homophobia, rape, sad endings :c
BONUS♡: Winwin teaching Jaehyun how to speak Mandarin, Jaehyun in glasses, appearances by Winwin’s family!
Here are some general rules and guidelines:
1. While this is a general fic fest, requiring no fixed endgame pairing or au, it is still an NCT fic fest, and your prompt must be centred on at least one NCT/SM Rookies member. For example, we will accept a prompt based on a story with Johnny/Sehun from EXO as the main pairing, but not a prompt based on a story with Minho from SHINee/Suho from EXO as the main pairing, featuring Johnny as a side character. At least one NCT/SMR member must be the main character of your prompt.
2. Avoid giving prompts that are overly specific or completely vague. Here are some examples of good and bad prompts:
Good prompt #1:
When you graduate high school, there are some things you never want to see again: that ugly school tie you wore every day, the Math test you bombed after staying up all night to play video games... and the crush whom you accidentally spilt a full cup of cranberry vodka on at Yuta's anti-prom party. The universe seems not to be on Johnny's side, though, 'cause when he opens his email to see who his college roommate will be, it turns out to be none other than that very same high school crush, Ten.
Good prompt #2:
Member A (can be anyone the author sees fit) brings Taeyong to Yuta's dating agency. Yuta arranges various dates for Taeyong, but they all fail, because the perfect person for Taeyong is none other than Yuta himself.
Bad prompt #1:
Rival basketball players Hansol and Kun. (Too vague! What else is supposed to happen?)
Bad prompt #2:
Jaehyun is a detective with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and in charge of the ongoing investigation of a series of high-profile robberies in Seoul. The robber, who identifies himself only as Neo, donates the money he steals anonymously to organisations that need it. Somehow, he manages to evaded the police every single time. One day during a stakeout, Jaehyun discovers that the robber is Doyoung, who works in a new bakery that opened in Jaehyun's neighbourhood. Doyoung is stealing money from the rich and corrupt and redistributing it to the poor because him and his older brother were orphans who were treated very badly as children, and he wants the less fortunate to live better lives. Doyoung is a student trying to get into law school, afterwhich he promises Jaehyun that he will stop stealing and help people in a good way. Jaehyun convinces him to stop stealing straight away, Neo goes off the radar and the police close the case.
(Whoa, this is way too specific! You've dictated the entire flow of the story, and the writer's hands will be tied.)
3. Make sure to be very detailed about the stuff you don’t want to see, so the writer who claims your prompt and writes a fic based on it knows for sure what not to include when writing.
4. When prompting, please use the members' stage names [e.g. Doyoung/Jaehyun as opposed to Dongyoung/Yoonoh] so the mods can organise the prompts easily! If you feel the need to specify that writers should use the members' real names, make a note of it at the end of your prompt.
5. Prompts containing suggestions of rape, non-consensual behaviour or the sexualisation of minors will not be included.
