“I think we’re good to go but if you can prepare the stats for me, that’d be better,” Mark finalised, checking through the paperwork before darting his eyes towards Jaehyun. “Jaehyun hyung?”
Jaehyun snapped out of his thoughts and looked at the younger guy, “Yeah?”
Mark repeated, “I was saying if you can prepare the statistics for me, it’ll be better since I’ve done up all the charts and we’re prepared for the meeting tomorrow. What’s going on?” he frowned at Jaehyun.
Jaehyun didn’t know how to explain it to Mark, making him shake his head ‘nothing’ as he turned back to his laptop screen. His eyes were on the screen and as he fidgets with his wedding band on his ring finger, his mind began to wander off.
The night before was deemed, yet another steamy night, he had with you. You called his name over and over again, nails dug into his back as he slid into you, thrusting into you over and over again. It was just the sound of you and Jaehyun filling up the room as you rode out each other’s highs. Jaehyun was panting hard, struggling to even swallow as he tries catching his breath. He rested his clammy forehead against yours, his eyes were closed and you watched him as you remained, clinging onto him. Subconsciously, your hand reached out to him and stroked his cheek with the back of your knuckles.
He opened his eyes lazily and looked at you, licked his bottom lip and began to push himself but you pulled him close to you, “Please don’t move yet,” you breathed out.
Jaehyun paused, his back muscles tensed under your touch, “Did you cum?”
You smiled up at him slightly and nodded your head a little, snaking your arms under his arms and around his back then pulling him back down on you. You could feel his questioning gaze on you as you pressed your cheek against his chest and closed your eyes, feeling the lethargy fills you.
“You alright?” Jaehyun pushed your hair away from your sweaty neck as he worked his way to the side and adjusted you so that his arms were under you. You remained nestled to his side before pulling the comforter over your naked bodies.
You rolled your shoulders and nuzzled your face against him, “I’m just sensitive”, your words drift off as sleep slowly took over you.
Jaehyun watched you slowly falling asleep in his arms, his heart filled with joy as he strokes your arm. Watching you has been a habit for him now and he might just enjoy it a little bit too much for his own good. He loved how your eyes felt warm on his skin, the way you would blink away from him and then come back to meet his eyes. He loved looking at your lips, and the way you bite your lower lip. The way you throw your head back when he plants butterfly kisses on your neck and shoulder.
It took a few tries before he finally could leave the lights on when making love to you because you were so insistent about turning the nightstand lamp off. A little coaxing and playfulness eventually made you give up and let Jaehyun take you into the lit-up room. He just loved watching you.
Jaehyun leaned in closer and pecked you on the cheek, resting his chin on top of your head, barely holding back the smile to himself. You pressed yourself closer to him in your sleep, making him pull the sheets higher to your shoulders. He was more than content to just hold you this close.
Morning came and the sound of the phone ringing woke Jaehyun from his slumber. He was still half asleep but realized that you were no longer in his arms instead, you were spooning him from behind. Your arms were wrapped around his waist neatly, he covered your hands with his without moving, even though he so badly wanted to see how you looked hugging him from behind but he wasn’t ready to let go of the moment. Jaehyun slowly took in everything he could feel on his back, strands of hair touching him followed by your light breathing tickling his back.
The ringing stopped, his mind was slowly waking up and becoming alert of you. The softness of your breasts pressed into him and your legs tangled in between his, where your knees were rubbing against his balls. Jaehyun turned his head slowly to look at you and when you didn’t stir, he spun round in a swift to face you, sliding his arm under your neck and pulling you close to him. You sighed quietly in your sleep.
“Hey beautiful,” he whispered softly, pushing your hair behind your ear to have a clearer look at your face. Jaehyun looked at you before his eyes trailed down to your chest, watching the rise of your chest and then to your breasts. He felt the blood rush downwards to his cock and within seconds, he was hard.
Jaehyun rested his hand on your waist, gently moving closer to you till he felt his hardness pressed into your stomach. There were so many things going through his mind, so many things that he wanted to do to you while you were asleep.
Control yourself, he reminded himself which resulted in him pressing his fingers into your side. His heartbeat began to pick up the pace the longer he held you in his arms, he knew he was already intoxicated by you beyond this point.
You moved, and he froze. Your eyelids fluttered before you sleepily opened your eyes. The sight of Jaehyun’s face welcomed you. It could have been the room because for a second, you felt an inexplicable weird feeling in the pit of your stomach when you laid eyes on him. His hair was soft and shiny as it falls on his face, and his lips were almost as red as his flushed cheeks. And you were comfortably lying on his arm with your cheek pressed against his chest.
You opened your mouth to say something after a few seconds of staring at each other but Jaehyun was quick to silence you with a kiss. He took you by surprise that you reacted out of natural impulse by jolting back but he grabbed you. He kissed you like he would never have the chance again as he began to climb on top, whilst softly caressing your cheek with his thumb. You felt it, you felt him and his desires for you. He was slowly rubbing himself against you as you slowly melt into his kiss and succumb to his touch because all in all, you wanted him that way too.
Jaehyun broke the kiss and looked at you, his eyes searched your face for any signs of disapproval but you were just staring back at him. You could feel your heart beating wildly in your chest, almost feeling petrified that he might be able to hear it through your chest but little did you know, his was resonating similarly to yours. And in the quietness of your thoughts, the sudden ringing of your phone broke through the room. Breaking every bliss moment you felt as you excused yourself away from Jaehyun to grab the phone on the nightstand.
The name on your phone screen made you nervous as you answered it, “Appa…”
Jaehyun let you move away from him but as your back faced him, his hand was still resting on your waist.
“Y/n, is Mr Jeong coming into the office any time soon? I need to get some documents to be signed urgently,” there was not a ‘hello’ or a ‘how are you’, it was just straight-up work. He could have called Jaehyun’s secretary but that was what it was, your father made you the wife of million-dollar business tycoon so it was convenient for him.
“Erm, yeah I think he will,” you struggled to keep your voice low. You were embarrassed at the way your father used you for easy access to Jaehyun and it definitely wasn’t the first time he used you like this, “How are you, Appa?”
“Still the same, look I really need to meet Mr Jeong, you think you could tell him that message for me?” you felt ticklish as Jaehyun drew patterns on your back, making you turn to look at him.
“I’ll tell him that, Appa,” you said.
“It’s urgent alright,” and with that the line was disconnected, leaving you feeling empty at the lack of conversation between you and your father. What did you really expect from him? There was no room for attention or love with him, you just became useful when you married Jaehyun. You were really nothing more than that.
Jaehyun kissed your shoulder, “Was it your father?”
You stayed quiet for a while as you mind your own feelings, not quite sure how to feel about anything. Perhaps, it was the sadness that was slowly filling you or the sudden disconcertment at the fact that you might just be good for nothing to your family if you weren’t married to Jaehyun. And it flipped a switch in you, everything that you felt minutes ago before the phone call was gone, for the briefest moment of just serenity and pure genuine just vanished.
“Y/n?” you could hear the concern in Jaehyun’s voice, he was so close to you but it was too late, you felt yourself falling out of everything quickly, “you alright?”
His hands roamed your waist, wanting to pull you back when you recoiled yourself away from him, refusing to look at him.
“My father needs to meet you urgently,” you finally answered.
You didn’t wait for his reply before getting up on your feet, scattering around to look for the night dress that was discarded last night. Definitely, you could feel Jaehyun’s confused gaze as he called your name but you moved around the room and escaped into the bathroom.
Jaehyun watched you leave, oh hell he wanted to barge into the bathroom himself, but he couldn’t bring himself to. One impulse move could drive you so far away and he already came this far with you. He dropped to his back and stare up at the ceiling, yet again another cold morning from you. Whatever that he had hoped to have with you, that he had last night, it was all gone again except this time, the bold move that he had pulled with you this morning… He knew it would cost him another few lonely nights before he could finally open you up again.
Battling with yourself, couldn’t bring yourself to it, you just couldn’t. So badly, you wanted it to be different but reality would always pull you back to the actual fact that you are nothing more than just a tool of business.
You had been nervous throughout the whole journey, you were only gone for five months but going down the streets to your parents’ home already felt foreign to you. Since the wedding, you felt like you were good riddance to your parents because there was not a single call from any of them and rarely were you able to talk to your mother herself, that was if you were lucky that she answered your call.
Shortly after Jaehyun left for the office, you made the impulsive decision to visit your parents’ home without informing them. It was their reaction to meeting you that made you feel the butterflies in your stomach, you didn’t know what to expect. Especially knowing that you weren’t really a favourite child., your parents dote on your brothers more for they will be the ones to carry the family’s name and to be the future of the family.
You rang the doorbell to the house, hearing your mother’s voice from inside asking who was it at the door before finally hearing the sounds of locks unlatching and the door opened, “Y/n?” by the looks of her face, you knew she was not glad to see you but you didn’t care, you missed her.
“Eomma…” you greeted her.
“You’re here alone?” she asked, still standing by the door. You nodded curtly, she made a straight line with her mouth before stepping away from the door, nodding you in.
Quite a few things have changed since you last came. Your mother had always loved moving the furnitures around to give the house a different look every once in a while, the curtains would change and she would add a few different decorations to the house like flowers and ceramics.
“Does your husband know you’re here?” she questioned as soon as you dropped yourself on the sofa. Your mother sat across from you and eyed you, the way she would when she was going to have one of those serious conversations with you. You never quite liked the way she was around you as compared to your brothers but you got used to it, the one with the less affection.
Of course he doesn’t, half of the time Jaehyun doesn’t know when you leave the house because you’d be back before he would but you were sure that the helper around the house would report it to him if they asked.
“Not really,” you smiled slightly at her.
Your mother looked at you, definitely she too didn’t know what to say to break the awkwardness “Have you eaten?”
You smiled at her, at least this was going somewhere, “Yeah, I ate before coming here. How are you, eomma?”
“I’m well,” she answered, softly.
There were so many things that you wanted to say to her, the more you looked at her the more you wanted to know how she did it. Your mother doesn’t speak much, she was not much of a talker herself which also led to the lack of a mother-daughter relationship between you and her. But you adored her. You adored her responsibility to this family and to her family. She entered the marriage with your father and had four children with him, that was you and your three younger brothers. You’ve never seen your parents showing affection to each other, their relationship seems solely like just another partnership.
“How’d you do it?” you started.
“Do what?” she asked,
A part of you felt like she knew what you were referring to but she just didn’t want to acknowledge it, “Marriage. How’d you do it?”
“It’s just like working that part-time job of arranging items on the shelf. You learn and then you get better at it over time,” her eyes were blank but you could hear the quiver in her voice.
“You know marriage is not one of those part-time jobs, eomma,” your voice trailed off. You were beginning to feel the tightness around your throat, the anger was starting to rise inside of you. You were seated here as a house guest in a home that you grew up in because your parents had made a big decision to marry you off to Jeong Jaehyun when you least expected it. You had dreams, and things that you wanted to do and none of those involved marriage.
“For once, look at me as someone you have carried for nine months in you and be that figure that I need you to be. In case you don’t know what that means, it means to be my mother for a second,” the words tumbled out from your lips quickly, “figure this out with me or at least help me because this life, I hate it! I hate this life!”
You felt like your chest was on fire, it was getting warm where you were. You stared long and hard at your mother, not once did she flinch at your words but she looked at you with no reaction. It was as if you were just screamed into the air and no one could hear anything you said.
“You don’t have a choice,” she said quietly.
“Choice? Whatever choice I had, you and Appa took it from me,” you scoffed. “No matter what I do, I will never be good enough, will I?”
“Being born a woman, you never had choices,” she started, “you serve your family before you’re married and when you’re married, you serve your husband and his family. You want to be good enough? Lie down quietly and spread your legs for your husband, bear his children. A woman is no good if she can’t have children.”
Her words hit you cold, it felt like you were thrown into the freezing ocean and a thousand knives cutting through you. For a moment, you couldn’t breathe, you couldn’t think as you looked at the woman you called your mother. But one thing for sure, you know that you were no longer invited to this house.
“She hasn’t had anything to eat since she came back from her parents’ home, Sir,” the house helper reported to Jaehyun as soon as he approached her in the kitchen.
He had received a text from her when you left the house that morning, Jaehyun was unsettled throughout the day knowing that you were going to see your mother. Though he has never talked to the older woman in any way but he had done his checks on your family. He knew everything about the way they treated you, he also knew about the things that you wanted to do, your dreams, your likes and hobbies. Though he didn’t want to barge into your life yet, he wanted to wait until you were ready to open up to him.
“Have you prepared her dinner?” he asked, loosening his necktie and unbuttoning his sleeve, rolling them up to his elbow.
She nodded and carried the tray to the island table, “She doesn’t look so good. She looked like she cried her way home.”
He let out an exasperated sigh, “I’ll take it from here, thanks,” Jaehyun picked up the tray and made his way towards the stairs. He made his way up to the bedroom, thinking of different scenarios in his head of what he should expect when he opens the door.
When he reached the bedroom door, he easily shifted the tray to one hand and opened the room door with another. He found himself in a dark room, the curtains were down which blocks out any light from outside, and only a small litted candle was burning by the nightstand. Jaehyun could make out the shape of you, sitting at the far end of the bed.
“Y/n?” he called, closing the door behind him before walking around the bed to you. He could hear you sniffling as he reached you and placed the tray down. “I heard you haven’t had your dinner.”
You wiped your cheeks but you knew that Jaehyun knew you were crying. You really wanted to be alone but you didn’t know how to say it to him. So you just looked down at your hands in your lap. Jaehyun sat near your feet and looked at you and you quietly wished that the bed would swallow you up.
“Thank you for bringing me dinner but I’m not feeling so well right now,” you lied.
Jaehyun was calm as he looked at you but it was a different thing in his mind. He wanted to wrap his arms around you, whatever that was making you feel bad, he wanted to take everything away. To make you feel alright, how did he even fall this deep in love with you? It was killing him that he couldn’t even touch you to make you feel better, he didn’t know how to. For he too was afraid that you might just push him away.
“I would bring you anything just so you would feel better,” he blurted out. You looked at him. He wanted to hit himself for just running his mouth like that without thinking.
“Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine,” you assured him.
And he wanted to believe you, scratching his head in frustration, Jaehyun turned to look at you. He opened his mouth to say something and closed his mouth, feeling like a complete fool in front of you. It just wasn’t coming out, the thoughts that has been going through his mind, it refused to come out. He took deep breaths and inched himself closer to you. You lifted your head and looked at him,
Jaehyun’s eyes searched your face in the dimly litted room, he placed both his hands on either side of your legs neatly, “Talk to me.”
You were confused, you didn’t understand what he meant. Surely, he couldn’t have possibly known about the trip to your parents’ house, could he?
“I know,” he started, “that you don’t look at me as a companion in life. You don’t see me as a husband, maybe not yet but we are in this together. I think it’s about time that I bulldoze my way into your life, y/n. I’m not even going to pretend anymore because you act like you want me every night, as much as I want you but every morning, you’re just distant from me. Like everything, we felt those nights meant nothing. I don’t want to wait anymore, I want to know what’s going on inside your head.”
“I’m just fulfilling my duty as your wife,” your voice was flat. He remained quiet, urging you to continue and when you did, you broke into a cry, “to lie down quietly and spread my legs for you.”
All self-control he practised vanished and he threw himself forward, gathered you in his arms and shushed you. Jaehyun couldn’t believe the words that came out of your mouth. His heart sunk at how you had described what you have been doing all this while for him, to just spread your legs for him.
“Is that how it felt every night for you, y/n?” he asked painfully, “was it just you spreading your legs for me all these while because if it were, I swear I will not touch you ever again.”
Oh fuck… His heart, Jaehyun thought.
You stayed there in his arms, suppressing the cry that was threatening to escape you. Tightly shutting your eyes, you held onto him. You didn’t know how to tell him, everything that you were feeling for him. Were they even valid feelings?
“How did you do it?” you asked, almost whispering.
Jaehyun loosen his hug around you, and looked down at you, “What do you mean?”
You pulled yourself back to look at him, pushing your hair away from your face, Jaehyun helped push a strand to the side, along with wiping your tear-stained cheek too, “This marriage. Is this something you want?”
You were finally asking him this question, Jaehyun looked at you tenderly. How does he tell you that it was love at first sight? How could he explain something that even he couldn’t understand himself? It didn’t make sense but when he had set eyes on you the first time, he knew he just liked you. And when he sees something he likes, he just liked it. People would call him crazy, his cousins called him crazy.
“It’s you that I want,” he admitted. He loved you.
You waited for him to say something else but he just gazed at you quietly, he was looking at you warmly. Something inside you tightened, you didn’t know if it was the way he looked at you, but something was making you change. You felt strange, different. A good feeling.
“How?” you whispered, looking up at him as he cupped your face with his hands.
Jaehyun shook his head, he didn’t realize it, “It started with a glance, then a smile. Every second that I have spent in your presence, every touch with you it had grown until now. I just know that I want you, fell completely in love with you and became crazy over you.”
It clicked inside of you that maybe this is the definition of love. It wasn’t supposed to make any sense, sometimes it just happens. What you felt inside was valid even if it was too hard to believe. But you were too afraid to take that step, too afraid because everything felt new to you. You’ve never felt being wanted by someone, even your parents didn’t want you so how would you know the feeling of being appreciated? Being loved? All these while, you only thought you were just an object.
Bravely, you covered his hand with yours, “I’m tired, Jaehyun. I just want to be loved. I just want someone that wants me to stay.”
This was the moment, the night. Jaehyun was brimming with emotions, and he had to show it to you that he meant it.
“Then stay,” he whispered, pulling you to him, Engulfing you in his arms. When you didn’t say anything, Jaehyun repeated, “Stay.”
