New friends and guest hosts
So for the past 2 training sessions we have been invaded (in the nicest possible way haha) by the North Cheshire Victory Rollers. The week after I passed min skills (still crazy happy about this :D ) some of the NCVR girls and guys came to our training and boy was that a reality check, my 'WOOO I can skate with the big kids now' moment came and went pretty damn quick haha seeing some of these skaters whizz by with such agility and skill made me take a speedy trip back down to earth - I've still got a long long way to go! Don't misunderstand me here this isn't a negative thing, infact quite the opposite! Seeing how much more my skating can and *will* grow makes me very excited and even more determined to get my ass in shape, work hard on my skating skills and increase my derby knowledge! The second week they were with us we had a couple of guest hosts; skater G-Whizz and official Skabarella of Manchester Roller Derby. They came to assess the NCVR team and a few more of our NWRD gals for min skills. Wow could hey skate!! Think almost everyone was derby crushing on G-whizz hard!!hahaha It was a great training session and I improved my 25in5 to 27 and a half :D with a whole lot more of us on the track! People who had passed min skills stepped aside for some of the assessment as we they were pushed on time and wanted to get through everyone who needed to be assessed. But we were not left dawdling; quick feet drills and one legged plow stops kept us busy on the sidelines! No standing still or stopping for an instant.....it was brilliant and really gets me excited for advanced training :D It's going to be intense and a lot of hardwork but man it's gonna be so worth it!! Made a bunch of new friends and really look forward to training again with these gals n guys sometime and maybe even bouting against them in the future ;) Much derby love for all <3
