Me: brain, we are having an identity crisis, what should we do?
My brain: tie knots into bits of colorful string and adorn yourself with them
Me: will the strings... help?
My brain: Helping is not my concern
Any time an allistic/nt comes to me for interpersonal advice it just boils down to “have you considered maybe ever talking to the other person about this” sometimes with a dash of “please practice introspection I’m begging”
Turns out I like hobbies with repetitive hand movements because that stimulation zeroes out my emotions and I get to experience the relief of the Void again
Perhaps iced coffee will fix all my mental health issues
Being into animals and having mental health issues that cause both impulse control AND obsession is really hard
I was buying feeders for my bearded dragon this morning and some guy surrendered his red tailed boa and my horrid little brain immediately told me to get her despite fully knowing I can’t house or care for her. I didn’t get her then because this isn’t my first rodeo, but I’ve now lost a whole day to researching what animals are currently at the store that I could take care of and fit in my room even though responsibly I shouldn’t be getting any new animal today while my brain is like this.
Like it’s one thing when my mental health is making it hard to take care of myself but when its setting me up to fail another living creature I really can’t handle it
Idk if this is something that’s like common with autistic people or neurodivergent people in general, but does anyone else experience a difference between things that are a special interest in the sense that you learn everything about that subject that you can and things which are just special to you in that you feel an intense connection to them in some way?
Like the history of monarchies is one of my special interests, I learn about it daily, even though I absolutely hate monarchies and a ton of the stuff I learn just makes me hate them more/makes me angry when I learn it. Crocodilians on the other hand I know relatively little about (by my standards) but whenever I see or hear about them I am brough immediate comfort.
