—Tearful Little Doby, Montreal Canadiens, taking his first loss of the season pretty hard, November 6, 2025
It was heartbreaking but the response from the boys was the sweetest (and the competitiveness that Doby showed foreshadowed the way he'd carry the team in the playoffs). The team jumped in to rally behind him:
We know in the room he's been a backbone for us this year so there's no need for him to do that—put it on himself.
—Noah Dobson, pointing out how incredible Doby had already been for the team
It's just always character—like, his personality—every day. And that's great and that's what he is. But we didn't lose because of him.
—Oliver Kapanen, reminding everyone that Doby is a gamer
It was also reported that after the media ops Chantal Machabée (team's Media Mama Bear) sat down with Doby to encourage him while Kirby, Dobber and Kappy (who had all done post game interviews) came over to hug him.
C'est comme ça qu'il deal avec ses affaires. Pis on va l'encadrer.
—Coach Marty St. Louis, emphasizing the team would be there to support him
—Arber teasing a giggling Doby at practice the next morning while Cole gave him head pats
—Doby smiling and shaking his head while watching the broadcast playback of his teammates messing with him, November 8, 2025
—Doby reassuring the media he wasn't having a mental health crisis, that sometimes a guy just has to have a little cry and move on
