i am now aware there’s an xcx reference in ndrv3 and i’m irrationally salty about it
About Kokichi Ouma
Something has always bothered me about his character as a writer, and it took me until the interview with Kodaka to understand it.
My main problem with Ouma is this: Kodaka broke one of the first rules of writing -- you are told Ouma is a liar and not shown. And it’s not just his character. All the ads give him the exact same treatment. “He’s a liar,” all the ads say, and they were true to their words.
That’s what he did the entire game. He was predictable in his “unpredictable nature”, meaning if a character was going to eventually do something really fucked up, it was more than likely going to be caused by him, and boy did that happen.
He was a force of nature, like Togami and Komaeda, and he did just as they did. He fucked around with everyone until the end.
If Kodaka wanted to do something with a character “who honestly had fun with the games”, he should have done something more, because even if his motives were different, he really was the equivalent of a Togami/Komaeda love child both in game (ie had a follower like Togami and caused other people’s deaths/executions like Komaeda. He did what the fuck he wanted like Togami, but died in chapter 5 by his own free will.) and out of game (ie the entire fan base).
This is why I hate him as a character as much as I hate him as a person: he got to go so far in the game and pulled the same mess that’s already been pulled. Honestly, Toujo fucked up. As much as he irritates me, I really think Hoshi should have lived in chapter 2. Instead of finding a willing participant, she should have killed the person who would have more than likely cause the most trouble in the event that she lost. She is a leader and as such must plan for all possible outcomes. Hoshi contributed way more to the group than Ouma by offering his life to whoever needs to kill him (which is something else I’ll address in another post). Just like Togami, just like Komaeda, Ouma was used more as a plot device (ie moving the story forward) then as an actual character (tho in his defense, Komaeda did go through a lot of character development in chapter 4, but his primary focus in the work was still as a plot device.).
Anyhow, idk if I’m forgetting anything, but this is my main problem with him as a character, making him my all time least favorite character in the DR series.

im just so confused?? like wtf is ndrv3′s universe? who the fuck is tsumugi?? so many questions owo
opinion alert: I actually really disliked ndrv3, and the only reason i keep reblogging fanart is because cute art is all I have left to soothe the damage that game did to my soul

i really liked it, but i can understand why some ppl don't. it has some pretty annoying flaws
I read spoilers back in May, and I just cannot fathom how Those plot twists could possibly be executed (ha!) in a way that wouldn’t piss me off. Like, I’ll watch a playthrough just so I’ll have a fair opinion, but I’m not expecting much.
Also, I hate NISA and how they handle localizations, and every single out-of-context screenshot I’ve seen so far has managed to deeply disappoint me. I want them to stop rubbing their grimy hands all over my comfort series.
if kodaka needs to take a break thats okay but
ndrv3 is shit
