if it’s okay to ask, i was wondering if rewrite would react positively/negatively to someone who actively seeks their comfort very early on? like someone who is very touchy-feely or sensitive and kinda… earnestly want rewrite to be their friend ;u(\

assuming reader acts like that as early as early stage 1, i think this would be the ONLY instance rewrite would be suspicious and doubt your intentions even though it was genuine. most people are at least a little wary of them at the very start so if you're overly friendly and want to be their friend very quickly? they would think you're doing that just to avoid being hurt.

rewrite is no stranger to people trying to flatter them and they usually notice and just. play along with it. they like being flattered anyways so they won't call it out and will pretend to be fooled by it. rewrite would do the same here so it might seem like they're becoming closer to reader and becoming more affectionate, they might not actually be. they're just pretending to be fooled by the "flattery" they think you're giving them.

and, over time, rewrite could actually doubt their original assumption about you. for example, you having the chance to get something from them or manipulate them, but you pass up on it. and it makes them pause for a second and wonder if something else is going on.

none of this you would notice, they're very good at hiding what goes on in their head. to you, none of their affection would stop.

and maybe over time, they will realize you are genuine, and would be absolutely floored (in a good way) to realize this.
