I finally feel my parents' pain with how overwhelmed they felt when they had to use their first cellphone, middle-aged and so used to pen and paper most of their lives. I lived through a generation where tangible things were more secure then intangible things, seems like that has changed within the last 15 years, almost half my life now. Just purchased an Intuos 5, a tablet graphic designers use to integrate with adobe photoshop and illustrator. Trust me this is all still Greek to me, but everyday I spend studying I am one day less ignorant about these programs. So I tell myself, one step at a time.
I also purchased something called a NeatDesk thanks to a friendly, more than helpful stranger I met months ago at the Apple store. This is not JUST A SCANNER, it does wonders for anyone starting up a business. I just tested it and it is AWESOME! Scanned a 6 page document in less than 5 seconds and BOOM it's in my computer in a PDF file and ready to be transferred, emailed, organized, and filed. AND you can do the same for receipts or business cards. Sorry, it's the salesman in me I can't help but advertise products that actually work, are easy to use, and are just simply amazing. They deserve the credit. So once you figure out how to even operate these gadgets or let alone even know that these things exist, technology can be pretty cool I suppose.
Funny how I was and still am in some ways so against technology. I still don't like how technology changes people for the worse. Quantity is not always better. Whether it provides you to have more time available, more friends, more things to do, more places to go...remember they may not live up to the quality time you spent on something because you actually had to dedicate all your time into a certain task, or the attention you dedicated to each person because you didn't have a text message or something else distracting you, or the word "boredom" we use so often because we are not used to spending time alone reflecting on our own lives and character. Of course I am guilty of all these things at some point in my life, but I do miss these sentimental aspects that existed before technology flooded our lives.
Nevertheless, my appreciation for technology is progressively exceeding my resentment of its existence. After all, the market that I am introducing my brand to is born into this world. I may not have been born into it, but I can learn to understand the products that shape our coming generations.
To another positive, productive day! Cheers!
