Have you tried "The Lies of Locke Lamora"? Sadistic confidence men, who call themselves the "Gentleman Bastards", but nonetheless have lines they (probably) will not cross. Or as they are known literarily: protagonists.

I have! Locke is a disaster and a schemer and a mess and I love him. I also wish the next book(s) would uh. Exist, at some point in the not-too-distant future, so holding out hope for that!

Okay but Cyndane probably should get an invitation if ‘mindtrap held by’ counts as an edge on the familial-or-mental-bond relationship graph. Which means Moghedien should be there as well, but more interestingly it brings up the question: should the Eelfinn be invited? 

Alternatively, we could say that all of the Chosen should be there because: Moridin has an invite due to being in Rand’s head, and like the other Chosen he is effectively soul-sworn to Shai’tan, which I think could count as an adoptive familial relationship of sorts, which means Shai’tan has an invite, and therefore his whole ‘family’ does as well.

At which point you may as well just extend an invitation to the Creator, too, because ‘personifications of opposing metaphysical forces driving the universe’ sure sounds like immediate family to me!

This has sat in my askbox for ages because I keep hoping I’ll come up with a better answer than the first place my mind goes, but who am I kidding.

Because see, the first place my mind goes here, is AU where Lanfear gets out too early but Moiraine also tracks down the baby Dragon far earlier, which puts Moiraine and Lanfear looking for the same person in the same place at the same time but both concealing their reasons for doing so and also both highly distrusting the other and trying to figure out what each other’s deal is and Tam between them working out far more than either would have intended, and like--

see, the thing is I harbour a weird fondness for the whole idea of Moiraine/Lanfear and I mean there are probably worse possible threesomes out there than Moiraine/Lanfear/Tam but. Look. That’s where my mind went and now we all just have to live with it.
