The town had gone wild. Actually, the town had gone wild a long time ago, back in the summer when this whole thing started rolling downhill. And as mysteries were discovered, and more secrets revealed, it seemed things were getting worse in the little town. And the South Side Serpents had gotten the short end of the stick. Jame had heard about the shooting. Everyone had. One afternoon Pop’s was just another popular hangout spot for teens and families. That night, it was the scene of a crime. 

The next day, names were already flying. And those of the snakes, were making the very top of the lists. They were always too easy to blame. James tried to stay out of it, keep a low profile. It was hard enough avoiding the increased hate from the town towards the gang, after the arrest of their leader and the revelation of the Blossom cartel. He was simply minding his own business, not a harm to the world. And then she came over; ice in the eyes, fire in her walk. On a mission. The Lodge girl. A roll of the eyes, a heavy sigh. James adjusted his stature, standing up more straight, unenthused crease to the brow. 

“OH, GREAT.  A storm approaches.”

The moment Mare saw the bag slip from the girl’s hand, the moment she watched her take those steps away from it, like she had no i d e a just what she’d done, Mare was on the move. She scooped up the bag with barely a hitch in her step, tucking it under her arm and walking quickly in the other direction -- she wouldn’t miss it... the girl looked like she could clearly afford more. A slight smirk appeared on her lips as she successfully made her get away --                                                        finders keepers, after all
