Matthew scene by scene in season 3
Episode 5 Scene 1 - Do you approve?/ Scene 2 - A Provocation
If you haven’t read these before don’t expect any other character arcs - forget it. Matthew all the way here. AND this is distinctly ‘shallow end’ stuff that is not to be taken too seriously.
SPOILERS if you haven’t seen episode 5!
The proud parents show off their babies to an excited Grannie Ysabeau and Auntie Marthe.
“Do you approve?” Matthew asks.
Marthe is reserving judgement. Of course she isn’t. You can see she’s in love already. I like to think of these two old vamps sitting by the fire and knitting at breakneck vampy speed for these babies. They can probably whip up a complete baby ensemble in about 10 minutes.
Moving straight along to Scene 2 - A Provocation
- coz we can’t hang around this week - so much to fit in.
Matthew and Diana are chilling with Ysabeau and Marthe who have completely taken over the babies.
Becca is hungry. OH help. I think that was a bit of heavy handed foreshadowing there.
Matthew is checking the arrangements for the christening while blatantly provoking us with his NECK! I swear that he does this on purpose. It’s completely unnecessary and probably kills his back and yet he does it anyway ...
Please sir can you just STOP?!
Moving on Ysabeau thinks the Christening will be seen as an act of war against the Congregation and the Covenant. Diana feels the Christening is another way to assemble allies against the covenant. So what about Baldie II? He’s no ally. He gets an invite even tho’ he’s not supporting the new Scion coz he is still the boss of the de Clermont's. Oh oh. I predict trouble.
Ysabeau sums up the situation “You’re about to find out who your true friends are.”
