Star Trek (original series) is generally very optimistic/all about the wonder of discovery, but there are still definitely politics there. I hope you find a good new show though! I love sci-fi that doesn’t get too dark/“edgy”. c:

i tried giving TOS a go a few months ago, but i had a really hard time paying attention. :< I did like Enterprise and TNG, though. I guess I just want something brand new that’s less dated and more...... diverse

nostalgia is just filled with all kinds of toxic vibes and 90s nostalgia is especially potent. like sure it was the bee's fucking knees when you were a kid ten, fifteen years ago, but you gotta continue to evolve, otherwise you can go back to rotary phones and 8-track and dial-up DOS and floppy disks, because that was such a good time right?

and especially don't fault kids for not giving a shit when they weren't even born at the time, like what are you even doing. I liked the gameboy well enough (god knows i poured enough hours into my own) but I would defend a thousand kids and their appreciation for the tech of today before I defend a 90s zealot

those kids are the ones that are going to be making the future and it's going to be a hundred thousand times better than a gameboy, and if you aren't a fan of that then get the fuck out of the way cause i literally don't care
