Does anyone have a laptop they aren’t using that they’d be willing to send to me for my mother to use?
My mom and I were discussing things last night and again just now, trying to start making plans since my disability runs out at the end of January and i sincerely doubt if my doctor requires me to have back surgery I’ll be anywhere near ready to either (a) have the surgery itself or (b) be recovered enough to go job hunting by then (and then there’s the fact I’ll have over a year’s gap in my work resume, possible work limitations and no real job skills to speak of).
My mother is very interested in doing some of the work that’s been suggested by my followers for alternate forms of income, such as tutoring and writing for various websites, but what we’ve realized is that with one laptop between the two of us (and with me being the primary user of said laptop) it’s not feasible. But it would definitely take some stress off my shoulders if my mother was able to help contribute to things, even if it’s just taking care of transportation costs between gas for her car and the bus pass we use to get my son for visits.
So I was wondering if anyone has a Windows running laptop they aren’t using (or if they might be willing to give one away if they get a better one over the holidays). It has to run Windows as my mother just can’t use a Mac, but she’s really not picky about specific OS beyond that. The only thing I’d like is for there to be Microsoft Word on there, if at all possible, and the larger the screen the better. Other than that, she’ll be happy with anything.
This would be a huge help. Her having her own laptop means that when her college closes for the semester she can still do things like take surveys for cash/Amazon cards (which we can use for household goods as well), do writing assignments at some of those websites and also help stave off her depression by allowing her to stay in better contact with her friends online (which will make my life much better because it’s hard to live with someone who’s chronically depressed when you’re dealing with your own mental illnesses). So if you can help, message me or send me an ask, and please signal boost this if you can.
