10: tell me about an insecurity you overcame

tbh a lot of my insecurities are probably still there, just less... all-consuming than they were when I was younger, and I do a lot of things despite being on some level insecure about them.

body hair, though. I used to hate how dark it is but now I don't think i've shaved in, like, 6 years and i love it. no insecurity left about that.

14: do you enjoy being lightheartedly teased? why or why not?

Yes!!! i like being teased in a way that feels like a compliment, or that just points out something funny/weird i did. i like laughing at myself and it feels really intimate and trusting to be gently roasted, especially by someone i know well and like. (if it's someone i don't like or don't know well it ALWAYS feels weird though)

19: tell me something you don't like telling the people you are close to

hmmmm. I don't like telling people when I'm anxious or upset. i don't loooove disappointing people or setting boundaries, but i've gotten better at it.

EXCELLENT thank you!! I could talk about this one forever.

So for the Natalie adoption fic, it started from a couple things. Namely that I’ve loved Natalie from the second I first listened to N2N and that, after everything, it never felt to me like Diana would’ve wanted to be pregnant again, so Natalie being adopted felt like a natural sort of development.

In terms of the actual aspects I included, I wanted it to be really focused on how different she felt in every single way I could think of but in a way that made the late reveal more . . . impactful, I suppose. Broadly speaking, it needed to include the secrecy and sort of taboo around actually talking about adoption on the adoptee side. I was trying to touch in part on how everything about adoption tends to be made about the adoptive parents.

I also wanted to get at the sort of push and pull between identities/families and the effect adoption has on non-familial relationships (specifically looking at Henry). Plus the way that Natalie has to parent her parents (that’s kind of in the show as it exists, but I feel like that concept as a whole gets exacerbated in adoption in certain ways).

Aaand those were the big thoughts I had in writing in an adoption plotline more or less around the existing events of the show!

J) Unpopular opinion I have

I don’t think any of these are actually unpopular because this fandom is so tiny so here’s a short list of My Opinions.

Liebe endet nie is the worst duet. If they had to keep it, it should’ve been a Claire and Mathilde duet à la I Know Him So Well but I digress.

Ethan Freeman and Bernhard Viktorin play Alfred the best.

Very random thought I’ve just had, but I think it would’ve been interesting to have young Mathilde at least appear in some of the flashbacks (like the trial scene).

There’s too many unnecessary songs and not enough reprises.

And, finally, the musical tries too hard to redeem Alfred after spending two hours telling us how he ruined Claire’s life.

K) Favourite plotline

It has to be the plotline about Claire’s and Alfred’s daughter. Though this is one of the things where I desperately wish the musical had kept closer to the play. That’s a ramble for another day though!
