Rule 2 - Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and then make 11 new ones.
Rule 3 - Tag 11 people and link them to your post.
Rule 4 - Let them know you’ve tagged them.
1. Where in the world would you most like to live?
Right where I'm living at the moment. Having grown up in a village, I failed to appreciate for many years just how brilliant the convenience of a city can be. Oxford is beautiful and has the Covered Market, which is brilliant, and dozens of theatres, which are a necessary condition of my existence. So yes, I'm going to be boring and say I'm content where I am.
2. Tell me a headcanon from any fandom (preferably one you think I know).
When Rose Tyler was dating Jimmy Stone, it took all of Jack's restraint not to kill the bastard, but he knew it would muck up the timeline. So he waited until 2005 when Rose was safely off with the Doctor and framed him for conspiring with aliens to destroy the planet, making it look like he'd Retcon'd himself to avoid being charged. Torchwood 1 'took care' of him.
3. You win the equivalent of £1,000,000 in the currency of your choice. What do you do with it?
Pay off my loans and my parents' mortgage, put enough aside for my sister's degree and a property for myself and whatever's left over, I would probably just leave in my account and still quibble over whether or not I can afford to go to the theatre.
4. What was your first exposure to fandom, which fandom was it, and how old were you?
This sort of depends. My first fanfiction was for Twilight aged... thirteen? But I wrote it primarily for my own sake, to expand on the rather two-dimensional characters. I only posted it on ff.net once I discovered it, and even then didn't get involved in discussions about the series or anything. Really, the first fandom I fully immersed myself in was probably Doctor Who, also aged about thirteen, because I was online on forums and in comments discussing spoilers and analysing the show as well as producing fanfic. In fact, I think I'm still top commenter on whovian.net...
5. One fanfiction trope/plot device/characterisation that will mean you refuse to read the story or continue reading it even if it’s brilliantly written by a brilliant author.
Anything that contravenes biology. This includes describing the hymen as a barrier. Also, the use of 'I mean' in a third person narrative.
6. If I could write you any fanfic in the world, what would it be? (Any length, any pairing, any plot…)
Essentially, it's something you've already half-written. I'd just like to see the full thing: Sybil marries Matthew. How does this change her outlook on life?
7. You can invite five fictional characters to a dinner party. Who are they and how does it go?
Well, inviting the Doctor was clearly a mistake, because he detests all the food I've made and insists on combining the main course with the starter. Sybil is a darling and insists on helping with everything, which actually gets quite annoying after a while. Margo Roth Spiegelman (from John Green's 'Paper Towns') provides some brilliant witty conversation, which sort of makes me feel inadequate, particularly because she gets on like a house on fire with the Doctor. Luna keeps forgetting about the International Statute of Secrecy and telling us about her latest theories on the origins of the Crumple-Horned Snorkack, which seems to share an evolutionary link with the rhinoceros, rather than the elephant as people originally thought. And in the midst of it all, Mme de Merteuil (from Laclos's 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses') is really quite confused, for once out of her depth, although she does manage to scare the Doctor quite a lot by flirting with him. This lasts until Luna asks, quite seriously, if she would be interested in spending the night with her instead. The Doctor is already planning his first trip with Margo by the time I'm trying to bring out pudding and Sybil accidentally leaves the gas hob on. Unfortunately, the Doctor manages to sonic the smoke alarm off whilst gesticulating with his sonic screwdriver, so the first we're aware of this is when a spark from Luna's wand starts a rather uncontrollable fire. It's possibly the worst night of my life.
8. Favourite item of clothing that you own
I have a blue summer dress that I would wear all year round if I could.
9. Favourite childhood toy
Teddy Bear. Because although he doesn't come with me to university, he is still sitting on my bed at home.
10. If you could go back to university (or do another degree after your current one) what would you study?
Either maths or history. Probably history, though I'd be better at maths.
A crash resounds around the bar as a man disappears into thin air, his glass falling to the floor and smashing.
"What on earth?!" cries the bartender.
"What happened?" asks a customer. "What were you talking about?"
"Well, I was asking him if he wanted another beer, he said, 'I think not' and then he just disappeared!"
"Ah," says the customer. "I heard that René Descartes was in town."
