This tag is to get to know the person behind the blog better. As with any tagging game there are rules:
Rule 1 - Post the rules.
Rule 2 - Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and then make 11 new ones.
Rule 3 - Tag 11 people and link them to your post.
Rule 4 - Let them know you’ve tagged them.
1. You have a choice: never go to the theatre again, never go to a concert again, or never watch television again. Which do you pick?
Never to go to a concert again. I've never really been to a live gig before. I love shows like Sherlock and the ability that they have to captivate an audience, so I'd still like to watch the telly. My favourite out of these three is going to the theatre, though. There's just something magical that you can't recreate anywhere else when you go and see a show. It's even better when you're in the show. That feeling is just incomparable to anything else.
2. Tell me one example of social media you swear you will never join/social media you swore you would never join.
Formspring. I don't really see the point of it - all I've ever seen as a result of this is vile internet abuse by anonymous people for no reason at all. I don't think it's a good idea.
3. Favourite number and why.
Number 1. It's the date of my birthday (the day, not the month) and it is symbolic. 'There's a first time for everything,' is one such example. Also, I like the idea that the number symbolises hope and a new beginning. Everything starts out as one individual thing, doesn't it?
4. What’s the best part of a song: the person singing, the lyrics, the emotion, the chords, the melody, the bass or something I’ve forgotten? (‘The whole thing’ is not an acceptable answer. One element, people!)
The melody. Of course, the lyrics can make or break a song, but the melody is the best part of a song. A simple melody can be haunting, chilling, moving, happy, hopeful, loving, fun... the list goes on. And with a melody, you can harmonise - more beautiful sounds!
5. Least favourite English word (excluding moist and crusty, because they’re overdone.)
I hate words which aren't real words. 'Ain't' or 'init' or even 'a'aite' are nasty. But the word which sticks in my mind most recently is 'preparedness'. I'm not sure why it confused me so much - it is (as far as I know) being in the state of being prepared. I just can't get my head around such an odd word. I can't even say it properly - I have a mental stumbling block every time I try, and I have to give it a go a lot of times.
6. What’s the last word you had to look up the definition of?
'Shotvarfet.' Turns out it isn't even a real word. I was analysing something for English Lit and that was in it and it confused me so I Googled it and it isn't a real word. It actually means 'It's not worth it.' WWI literature stuff, I won't go into detail here.
7. Ending sentences with a preposition - yes, no or what on earth are you on about?
Yes! I like prepositions! Especially 'betwixt' and 'notwithstanding'. Words are fun!
8. The Oxford comma - yes, no, or what on earth are you on about?
Yes. I tend to slip it in to my work more often than not, otherwise my sentences are too rushed in my head and it puts me off. I didn't actually know what it was called, but thank you for letting me know. :)
9. Does your username have a meaning to it? If not, what meaningful username would you pick if you had to?
Mine sort of does, but it's not deep or anything like that. I just wanted a username which was anonymous but beautiful, and this is what I came up with. Mainly because I wanted something that was linked to Harry Potter but not really obvious like 'Potterhead1234' or something generic and dull like that. The Phoenix's Song is lovely, I think, because it is modest and calm and quiet and yet, when it is listened to, is beautiful and pure. I hope my blog occasionally meets these standards.
10. What is the nearest object to you (apart from your computer)?
My bed. I love my bed.
11. Write me a haiku. Please.
A whisper, a sigh,
A flickering in your sight,
A wing beat. Don't blink.
