not having any full circle moment for neelang was disappointing but i'm not surprised. 🧍🏻♂️
simply because i've realised that most desi media (not all) at least in its attempt to make queerness palatable to its mainstream audience, loses the very foundation that made it interesting in the first place. 😔
for example; a queer character has to be either a living breathing red flag that is killed off to show redemption which isn't redemption imo (any generic internalised homophobic character)...or the uwu my lil babie can do no wrong archetype who is also killed off (lol) to show tragedy just for the heck of it. THERE IS NO SCOPE FOR A BREATHER, NO GREY SPACE TO JUST BE. malang and neel both are inherently flawed characters, THAT'S WHAT MAKES THEM CLICK! *duck smoking GIF*
as much as i like moksh (sweet boy that he is, in his eyes neel is THE IDEAL, which isn't well healthy either). why am i expecting sm from a silly lil cash grab teen-aimed series on amazon prime india...uh idk but also idc. THIS IS MY PERSONAL opinion 👏🏻, so chill 💅🏻.
coming back to neelang vs. neelksh (?), this isn't which ship is better discourse but which ship had more CATHARTIC of an ending. neelksh was too abrupt. the jump from "i don't think i'm over my ex" to "OH YES IDC ABOUT MY EX, ONLY YOU" is too random. especially because we say neel literally fold (such a loser ah moment) the minute malang returned. (just like me FR)
i don't think moksh deserves to be treated as the next best option. 'letting go as an act of love' is overused, where is the promise where, love is an active choice of staying? y'all forget neel wasn't born like the 'calm, yoga/spiritual guru' moksh fell in love with....neel is everything, malang made him.
bully x victim romance angle was changed the minute neel accepted his flaws in S1 (how can one ever forget ths the almost confession after that party?). NEELANG is everything and more and yes i'm bummed af that they're not endgame. sue me. THIS IS NOT A MOKSH HATE POST. (i like him) but when has moksh ever existed outside of being madly in love with neel? (THINK 🤔 PLEASE THINK A LIL). meanwhile both neel and malang have had full fledged screentime/arcs beyond their doomed romance. *cries*
