I always love the undercurrent of secrecy, shame and especially the dubious, layered nature of consent in omegaverse so of course I gotta try projecting all that delicious trope to Luffy heheh
I like the trope of omegas being rare and hence greatly coveted, but that would rob me of Usopp being an omega so i'm not sure.....😭honestly with how my brain works when i'm completely engulfed in otp i just zeroed in on zolu, Zoro and Luffy. I haven't thought of other member's gender.
For how omegas work here tho.... 🤔 Could be interesting if omega's quirks is a double-edged sword for the person. if they have strong willpower and hone in on their instincts/confidence for a long time, being omega can give them upper hand (haki-esque influence) but if these traits are not tightly reigned in, tthey can be absolutely turned over, dominated, making them seen as easy piece for uh.... less-savory alphas and even betas. and there are a LOT of them in the great pirate era.
which is why Ace warned Luffy to hide his secondary gender before he sailed, maybe even trained him to reign in his omega traits (smell?? scent??) maybe that's also why Garp is super harsh on him. If Luffy gets too soft, if he's not beaten down, he'd be absolutely destroyed by the world. still asshole move gramps.
I'm not sure if you're into dubcon/noncon, but i absolutely am and since Luffy is my absolute favorite, i love thinking about Luffy's predicaments involving his struggle with his secondary gender, especially with his enemies 😈 maybe have some of his enemies try to influence him to get advantage as he's fighting back the submission being forcefully ripped out of his body... Luffy having to fight and protect his crew just as he's nearing his heat, feeling like absolute hell and is pushed to his absolute limit... also, his unspoken but acute fear of pregnancy... GAAAAH tasty tasty tasty!!!
in sweeter, more consensual note: Luffy feeling drawn the first time he laid his eyes on Zoro, feeling of safety and owning and being owned growing exponentially the more time he spent with Zoro... yet because being omega is rare and nobody really teaches Luffy all of these little details and intricacies of emotions, Luffy is clueless and moderately distressed on where the omega ends and where he starts. maybe he even avoids Zoro at some point because he feels like losing his identity.
I love thinking of equally clueless alpha! Zoro and omega! Luffy and would love to try exploring how they navigate these weird and frankly tiring intense emotions they both feel because of their mutual attraction, rut and heat, and everything in between.
also based on this incredible omegaverse courtship sparring post.... i can imagine them finally mating post-timeskip with this scenario AAAAAAAAHH////////
Luffy whos always been stronger than Zoro, even moreso after the timeskip, who can easily knock the swordsman down and claim victory and even kill him if he wants to, deliberately lets himself be pinned down in the courtship sparring. Zoro is stunned with this rare show of submission, knowing how averse Luffy is in showing weakness, but Luffy contently explains to him that he finally knows what he wants, who he wants and there's no better person to be his mate, his home, his equal than Zoro. It just takes him a great loss and long two-years for this conclusion.... And Zoro, dutifully, heart hammering with inexpressible joy and honour, claims Luffy as he's ordered to do so.
personally i think this scene could be incredibly romantic and angsty... i can't WAIT to draw this scene, its going to be emotional and smutty hahaha
