⏰ Neg-Bushroot. - Pixel Anon

“⏰ - What is your OC like at timekeeping? Are they punctual, or always running late?”

Nega-Bushroot is actually pretty diligent when it comes to keeping track of time: Years of studying and working with plants have left him with a natural habit of always checking the time when possible. Many of the plants that he takes care of have strict schedules for things like watering, weeding, pruning, etc. that must be vigilantly maintained to produce the best results. Even if he doesn’t check a watch or clock that often, he is always aware of the exact date and time no matter the circumstances.

🍹 for the Friendly Four?

“🍹 - Does your OC drink? If so, what’s their drink of choice?”

Bushroot- Not since becoming a plant mutant, no. When he was still just a duck, though, he hit the canadian whisky pretty hard after work.

Megavolt- Has tried drinking before, but didn’t like it much. If he does drink, it’s something mild but tasty like a christmas mule cocktail.

Quackerjack- Doesn’t mind drinking from time to time. Most of what he drinks are sweeter cocktails since he likes the sugar, and he’s a fan of anything with cotton candy like a yagiz’s turkish delight.

Liquidator- Neither before or after becoming a mutant; he just never liked alcohol all that much. He’d often order virgin cocktails like a shirley temple while out with friends or family.

Friendly Four- Meetings

Summary:  The Negaverse- a world where the city of Saint Canard is ruled by the villainous Negaduck. In this city overrun with crime and corruption, a group of heroes come together to fight back against injustice.

For some reason (probably because of the DT17 episode featuring the Fearsome Four and Darkwing Duck), my Friendly Four story from ages ago has been getting a lot of attention on AO3 recently, and I realized I never really did a master post for it over here. So, might as well correct that now xD Artwork is by the amazing @thefriendlyfour​

🥀 for nega bushroot?

“Has your OC ever been hurt by someone they love? Ever been betrayed? Abused? Attacked? Give me the angst! (if you’d like, write a short drabble about it!)”

Yeah, Nega-Bushroot has definitely gone through that before. You can read the full account of it in his introductory story, but here’s the summarized version:

Bushroot was a botanist at the local university, but he refused to comply with Negaduck’s strict rules for their research and still pursued his own goal of giving people the ability to photosynthesize to help cut down on Saint Canard’s pollution problems. To protect themselves, his colleagues allowed him to be fired so they wouldn’t be targeted by Negaduck as well.

When he came back after trying his experiment on himself, they all seemed impressed- including Dr.Rhoda Dendron, the woman whom Bushroot had been dealing with an ever-growing crush on for a long time now. She invited him to meet her privately later that night, but it was a trap set up to hand him over to Negaduck.

After that incident that almost cost him his life, Bushroot was heartbroken and tried to avoid people altogether. At least until he was discovered and pestered by Megavolt and Quackerjack..

Slighty Obvious question but, 💐 for Nega-Bushroot? - Pixel Anon

“Does your OC like flowers? What are their favourites? Do they keep a garden of some sort? What flowers would they use in a flower crown? (and if you like, research the meanings behind those flowers!)”

Yeah, even though he’s not a payed botanist anymore, Nega-Bushroot still enjoys gardening and has many different flowers that he grows and cares for in his greenhouse. His favorite flowers would be nigella damascena because he likes their soft-spoken beauty, and solanum carolinense because he admires its ability to be both beautiful and deadly (hence why he used that as the plant he fused with in this universe). As for flower crowns, he’s not really big on them because it feels a bit like wearing a wreath made of severed limbs to him, but he’ll help Nega-Gosalyn if she wants to make one and tell her what each flower is and what they mean.

“Who, in their opinion, makes the best food?”

Surprisingly, it’s actually Bushroot who’s the best cook in the household despite being one of the ones that no longer needs to eat.

Megavolt and Liquidator have shorted out the kitchen appliances one too many times and are only allowed in there for specific reasons. In Megavolt’s case, it’s to fix the appliances and lights when they act up. In Liquidator’s, it’s to help clean up. Aside from those reasons, they are not allowed to interact with things in the kitchen.

Many people would assume that Quackerjack would be the one to know how to cook since he was the one staying in the house before and it was HIS kitchen, but, no- he’s content to just eat out or eat junk food if no one actually MAKES him eat properly.

11. For Friendly Four?

“Do they believe in luck?”

It’s kind of a fifty-fifty split on that one.

Bushroot’s pretty pessimistic and tries to base his decisions on logic and facts rather than putting his faith in something as unpredictable as luck. Megavolt’s mostly indifferent when it comes to the concept, but he’d lean more towards the non-believer side of it- he’s more the type to believe in things he’s seen for himself like his partners’ abilities or the strength of someone’s spirit and good will.

Surprisingly, the ones who believe in luck the most on the team are arguably the ones who’ve had the worst luck of all.

Quackerjack’s belief in luck is based solely on his completely random encounter with his ex-girlfriend- out of anyone in the world he could have gotten for his prison-penpal-program, he got the one person who was able to help restore his faith in humanity and help him put himself back together, and if that’s not good luck, then what is? On the opposite side of that coin, Liquidator believes in luck mostly because he’s had some pretty bad luck in the past (ex: getting thrown into a vat of acid and mutated into a water dog)...then again, meeting his partners was pretty good luck, so maybe his luck’s finally starting to turn around?

That part in “Life, the Negaverse, and Everything” where Drake wasn’t going to leave until he was confident that he was leaving Nega-Gosalyn in good hands, that’s just a good scene and one of the many reasons I’m just disappointed the series never touched on the Negaverse again (missed opportunity to include them in “Crisis on Infinite Darkwings”, tbh), because this is just a great wholesome sequence, and like, Darkwing’s love for his daughter just extends to all versions of her, it seems, and I love that

Also, I absolutely love how each of the Friendly Four have their own way of wearing the hat: Nega-Bushroot and Nega-Megavolt both ripped off the tops to accommodate, Nega-Liquidator’s hat is just dripping wet, and Nega-Quackerjack is just a hat on a hat (with a mask on a mask, even), and the visual is just a fun set of images.
