Alright friends, gather ‘round to hear about my plans for this evil beauty.
So this intro is not going to be a lengthy bio like Laurel’s was because tbh I am keeping things relatively close to canon Merlin here. Morgana was living in Camelot, during the 12th century, she was good, the king’s ward (except surprise she’s actually his kid) and after a bunch of stuff happened she turned to the dark side. She tried overthrowing the king and was queen for a short while. But eventually she just kinda lost her shit and ended up living in the woods and kept wreaking havoc on Camelot.
Except fun twist, instead of getting killed, she wasn’t! People thought she was dead. But instead she was just badly wounded but thanks to immortality, she didn’t die. She lived in the shadows for a while, but then just.. kinda went about her life. She didn’t stop wreaking havoc, she just did it a little less publicly? She didn’t need people knowing she was alive.
Long story short, she made her way through the centuries, adapting with the world as it progressed to being what it is today. Over the years she just did what she could working different jobs and eventually made a bunch of money. She’s still bad. She still has a grudge against everyone who got in her way all those hundreds of years ago. She still kills people. She uses her magic all the time.
But y’know, she’s a more modern girl than she was on the show mainly because this group takes place in current time. She went to school for art at some point down the road. And now she’s a tattoo artist bc its a way that she can inflict pain on people. Yikes lmao. Like that’s really the only reason she has a job bc after so many years of stashing away money she’s pretty loaded at this point.
Anyway if anyone wants to plot with her just let me know :P
I was going to just post a few facts about Laurel, but this turned into a huge ass bio. I realized that there were too many details needed to really sum her up in something small, so.. enjoy the novel below the cut.
Let me just say too before I start that all of the stuff mentioning Sara was worked out with Kae, the mun playing her, so everything was agreed upon and plotted out together bc that’s what happens when your character’s life intertwines with someone else’s :)
Dinah Laurel Lance grew up in New York with her sister Sara, and their parents, Dinah and Quentin Lance. Laurel was a relatively serious little girl. She was level headed, she was determined. Their father was a cop, and their mother was a teacher. Laurel initially wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a cop too, but over the years she decided that being a lawyer was a better route for her. She was set on that as her career path, and nothing was going to get in her way. As she grew up, Laurel had taken numerous fighting and self defense classes, as her father wanted to be sure she could defend herself if that situation ever occurred.
Her relationship with her sister was good. They were close for years. Laurel could remember their days playing in the snow, playing dress up, playing with dolls, and pretending they were older with their dream jobs. Naturally Laurel often felt a lot of responsibility; she was the oldest, she needed to set a good example, even though there was only a few years between the two of them. It was why, although she was reluctant, she would help Sara fight bullies. She would do anything for her sister. But part of Laurel held a bit of resentment— being the oldest was hard sometimes, and she had her days where she wished Sara would just disappear.
She never thought that Sara would actually disappear though. After word got out that her sister and her troublemaker friends had gotten into a boating accident, Laurel wasn’t sure how she felt. She was sad that her sister was gone, probably dead. But she was more angry that Sara hung around those people in the first place. Laurel turned to alcohol to help her deal with the loneliness and grief and anger. She wasn’t drinking heavily, just a few glasses whenever she started to feel down. As she finished up school, she also put her focus more into training, the exercise was good for her. Not only that, but sparring against other people was how she got her anger out the best.
When a few of Sara friends were found alive, Laurel was seeing red. How dare they live? She wanted them dead, she felt like that’s what they deserved. The night they were all back in New York was the night Laurel decided she was going to get justice for her sister. In the dark of night, she killed them. She didn’t have any guilt or remorse for her actions. All it did was make her feel powerful. She felt like she had avenged her sister’s death by killing them, since they were the ones she was with.
Laurel couldn’t help herself. She found herself out and about at night, trolling the streets looking for criminals. One night, her trainer caught her. Instead of turning her in or trying to stop her, he joined her. That was when she realized that this wasn’t his first rodeo. He was a vigilante, and Laurel was inspired. She dubbed herself the Black Canary. Laurel chose ‘Black Canary’ as her name as a nod to her sister. Sara had a canary growing up, and while the bird occasionally drove her nuts, she would always remember how much Sara loved it. Laurel’s cat ate the bird after Sara let it out by accident. The dead bird ultimately inspired her, because it was a reminder of her sister, and it being dead was representative of her goals, eliminating those in the world who had done her, her community, or her family wrong. The two of them were constantly going after people they thought needed to be taught a lesson. Whether their targets ended up hurt or dead, they didn’t care. He and Laurel ended up becoming more than a vigilante team, he also ended up being her boyfriend. They were together for a few months. Her skills got significantly better after he trained her more after hours. He has skills that he would never explain how he learned, but he made sure to teach her. But after a fight against someone in the field that left him in critical care, he ended up passing a few days later. Laurel turned back to the bottle, drinking more than she had before.
With a job as a DA, Laurel needed to keep herself together. But the worse she got, the less competent she became at work. Eventually, they let her go. She was no longer a DA, she was was unemployed and her parents were not impressed. So Laurel just continued on as the Black Canary, trying to rid the world of the terrible people in it. After a night of fighting while she was drunk that ended in a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Laurel hung up the Black Canary suit for a little while. She sobered up, and she went back to school. Flash forward a little while. Laurel is finishing up with a new degree, she’s still struggling a bit with sobriety, and suddenly it turns out that her sister is back, ALIVE. Laurel didn’t know how to feel. She was angry because Sara was alive and never called. She was angry because she blamed Sara for her problems. She blamed her for the alcohol addiction, which carried over to her blaming her for losing her job.
As she opened up her flower shop, Laurel continued to struggle. Sara being back gave Laurel a reason to go back out as the Black Canary. She was mad, she needed an outlet, and fighting crime seemed like a good way to find some release. She couldn’t bring herself to be on good terms with Sara. Try as she might, it just wasn’t working. But eventually, she caved. Being angry was exhausting, and after a tearful reconciliation, Laurel was ready to move forward. She started putting more effort into her sobriety, and her business was flourishing. She continued her night job as a vigilante, and for the first time in a long time, Laurel felt content. It was like things were the way they were meant to be.
Nobody knew about her night job. She wanted to keep it that way. People around New York were aware of a woman in black running around killing and injuring people, but they could never catch her. They could never ID her. The new addition of a mask to her leather jacket, bodysuit, and fishnets was enough to conceal her identity. As the days and weeks passed, Laurel quickly became aware that she wasn’t the only person running around in a mask. She was frequently finding herself engaging in hand to hand combat, and fights involving numerous weapons.
There was one person in particular she had been after for weeks. They’d had a few close encounters, but they kept getting away. It was infuriating. He had a gun, and so did she, but it just never seemed to amount to a win. One night, she noticed they weren’t completely alone. But what she wasn’t expecting was while she was scoping out the scene from a distance, seeing another person dressed as a vigilante on the other end of the gun he held. Laurel got closer, and shortly after he fired and turned around, she threw a knife straight into his chest. He dropped, and Laurel went to investigate the person who had been shot. She never thought it would be Sara, but it was. Laurel broke down in tears, holding her sister’s lifeless body in her arms.
No more than a week after Sara was buried, Laurel was trying to push it out of her mind. She didn’t want to think about it. She just threw herself into work, and poured her energy into fighting and running the shop.
A month later, there was an explosion at the laboratory near her flower shop. Laurel wasn’t entirely sure what had happened, but she had let out a scream as she heard the blast. She felt a wave of what she could only describe as strong energy washing over her in that moment. She didn’t know what that meant, but she didn’t think much of it until the next time she came face to face with Sara’s killer. She was mad, she wanted to end him. And when she opened her mouth to speak, instinct took over and she screamed instead. But it wasn’t a normal scream. It was.. different, it was almost magical. It was enough to knock him down. So she got closer and tried again, letting the screams out at him until he was dead. She quickly took to the internet that night to look up what it meant when someone randomly ended up with powers, and she realized she had become what people called a meta-human. Using her newfound powers was exciting, and Laurel felt so, so powerful.
Almost a year passed since she lost Sara, and Laurel started to think back about things Sara had told her after the reconciled. She remembered hearing about a special pit that could resurrect her. It took some work, but she eventually brought Sara’s body there to be brought back. She wanted her sister back, it wasn’t fair that she was taken away from her. She wished he had remembered the pit sooner than this. But it was better late than never. The woman who came out of those bubbling waters though was not her sister. It looked like her, but she was different. She was a monster. She tried to help Sara remember, but it didn’t work.
Sara had told her about a friend, a magical friend. Back when she told her, she thought her sister was full of shit. But after accumulating powers of her own, she realized it wasn’t so far fetched. She went through some of Sara’s things, and used the resources she had to track the person down to restore her soul. And ever since, Laurel has been trying to make sure Sara’s okay. She doesnt want to see anything bad happen to her again. Laurel hasn’t told Sara yet about being the Black Canary, nor has she told Sara that she knows she was going out as a vigilante too.
Laurel’s life is crazy, between her work at night and keeping busy with the flower shop. But she is content. She sometimes misses being DA, and wonders if she’d be able to get back into that. It wasn’t like she had been banned from everywhere forever, she just got fired from that DA office. And as long as nobody finds out she’s a criminal herself, she’s all set.
Despite being viscous and hot tempered at night when she’s out running around in a mask, everyday Laurel is actually relatively kind. She’s more fair and just during the day, and she’s smart, she’s determined, and she is a hard worker. She can be rather manipulative, and she’s good at getting people to bend to do what she wants. She has a lot of love for her friends and family, and is ridiculously protective.
So, there you have it. That’s Laurel. I pulled bits and pieces of different versions of Laurel and mushed it into one person and ended up with this. She’s.. something else tbh, but please love her. If anyone wants to plot, just give this a like or just hmu!
this 1,631 word thing here is my novel. jk, jk, no but really its basically a novel. trying to cram all of sara’s life into one thing was very hard to do. i cut short and out lots of parts, believe it or not. it took me like three days to do this, lol. anyway, this is long overdue but here it is. this is my baby, sara. all of the details including laurel were worked out with megan, laurel’s mun and our amazing admin. thank you for all of your help. and thank you all for coming to my ted talk. enjoy the read, hehe. it’s a long one.
TW: Death & Violence
Biography
It was a snowy Christmas day in New York City and slightly older sister, Laurel, was not happy with her parents. They were supposed to be home opening presents, yet here they were in the hospital on Christmas morning welcoming their newest addition to the Lance family. Baby Sara was born to Quentin and Dinah Lance Christmas morning. Sara grew a happy kid. She played with her sister all the time (along with the occasional fight), attended dance classes and had this pet canary that her father bought her. Sara loved the bird but it drove everyone else crazy. The yellow canary was a part of their lives for quite a few years before Sara accidentally let it out of it’s cage and her sister’s cat ate her.
Sara never forgave Laurel for her canary’s death (although it was really Sara’s fault for letting the bird out anyway). This bitterness turned the young girl into a pretty rebellious teenager. Her trouble making ways often got her into tricky situations and often put her at odds with her father. She dated a lot of “bad boys”, much to her father’s chagrin, from whom she learned many things like how to hot-wire a car. Sara got into a lot of fights with her bullies, often with her sister’s help. The frequent occurrences of harassment created behavioral issues in Sara and caused her grades to drop, worrying her parents. This led to her father teaching both Sara and Laurel how to defend themselves.
The time she spent learning to fight with her father left an influential impact on Sara’s life. She went off to college and majored in Criminal Justice. She wanted to become a detective and although she spent most of her four years away partying, Sara managed to graduate on time. She returned home to celebrate her accomplishments with her family however, she was invited out on a boat trip with friends from college. She figured she’d have all the time in the world to be with her family so she didn’t think twice about saying yes to the trip.
Sara said goodbye to her family and headed off to celebrate with her friends. She was having one hell of a time but was somewhat nervous about the storm that developed. Her friends assured her they were fine so she shrugged it off. Out of nowhere, the yacht sank and Sara was pulled under, causing some of her friends who survived to believe that she had drowned. However, Sara managed to swim to the surface on the other side of the wreck and was marooned on a piece of the ship for days.
A few days after their boat sank, Sara was found by a ship called the Amazo, who took her on board but they imprisoned her in a cell. Days later, the crew dragged Sara out of her cell and were going to take her away, but were stopped by a grey haired man who took Sara to his quarters instead. This man introduced himself as Dr. Anthony Ivo. He told Sara he was going to save the human race, and asked if she would join him. Anthony explained to Sara that he was looking for a serum created by the Japanese in World War II called Mirakuru (Japanese for Miracle) which could increase muscle strength, enhance senses and regenerate cells, but the submarine sank somewhere in the chain of islands nearby. For the next year, Anthony protected Sara from the cruelty of his men and taught her many skills in the fields of biology, chemistry and technology. After her near-death experience and her time spent with Dr. Ivo after being rescued by him, Sara became more apathetic and cold, more technology and science savvy. She assisted Anthony in torturing his prisoners, though only because she was secretly terrified she would be the next test subject. However, Sara still felt a sense of loyalty towards Anthony for saving her life, no matter how cruel he became.
Sara went with Dr. Anthony Ivo and the crew of the Amazo onto an island called Lian Yu via a plane in search of the ship wreck. However when they arrived on the island, Anthony became extremely violent killing his crew members and guards in search of the Mirakuru. Sara freaked when he turned on her but she managed to get one good punch in knocking him out long enough for her to escape. She ran giving herself as much distance as she could from Anthony and spent at least a year on Lian Yu trying to avoid being captured when she was found by a strange woman. Although strange, this woman was mesmerizing and Sara didn’t turn her down when she offered her protection and a roof over her head.
What Sara didn’t know was that this woman was part of this secret organization called the League of Assassins. Its purpose is to hunt down and kill people deemed a danger to society and the world at large. The woman took her to this city called Nanda Parbat where Sara trained with the League and became an assassin herself by swearing her allegiance to them. When Sara was told to “choose a new name”, she chose “Ta-er al-Sahfer” which is Arabic for canary, reminiscent of the canary her father got her when she was ten. Soon after she was recruited into the League of Assassins, Sara became a cold-hearted killer, assassin, and proficient warrior becoming more capable, headstrong and confident. At some point during her four years with the League she and the woman became lovers. Despite this, Sara never forgot about her family and still cared deeply for them, but became afraid to reveal the fact that she was alive, fearing that they’ll reject what she had become.
Six years later, Sara left the organization and returned to Starling City when she found out that her family was in danger. Under the vigilante moniker ‘the Canary’, a translation of her League name, she stayed to protect them, before she was forced to leave due to the League following her, trying to bring her back. She was eventually released from the League of Assassins by her lover. She came back to Starling City and revealed to her family that she was indeed alive. Her parents were so grateful to have her back home however, her sister Laurel felt probably the exact opposite. She was pissed at her sister and Laurel blamed Sara for everything that happened to their family over the past several years.
Although their relationship started off rocky, Laurel eventually came around. They spent a lot of time getting reacquainted with one another as well as sharing stories from the past six years. Both sisters had changed tremendously, especially Sara. She was more quiet and reserved than ever before, being haunted and burdened by her traumatic experiences and warrior lifestyle. Sara, not being able to give up all of her old ways, decided to continue as a vigilante in secret while working her way up the police force. She was promoted to Police Corporal and about a year and a half later, she was promoted to Lieutenant all while continuing her work as a vigilante.
One night, while out as the Canary, she came into another vigilante going after a guy that was causing a lot of havoc in the city. Sara figured why not jump in with an assist. Being the Canary, she felt totally at ease and had complete confidence in herself. That would leave Sara feeling a bit reckless and a little cocky to the point where she had gotten careless. She let herself get distracted, shot and killed in the process. Sara was buried in her once empty casket from several years ago when they were first led to believe that she was dead.
Almost a year after her death, Sara’s corpse was dug up by her sister and taken to Nanda Parbat. When Sara returned home from the island, she told Laurel many stories about her time there including ones about the Lazarus Pit. It’s a pool of regenerative waters that allowed the user to heal themselves of any wounds, or even prevent aging to a certain extent. Well, at least that’s what she was told. As it turns out, the rumors were true. As soon as Laurel had Sara resurrected using the pit, she went after everyone, but was restrained. Sara was, in short, a monster. Laurel contacted a magical friend of Sara’s who performed a ritual to restore Sara’s soul to her body. She was soon happily reunited with her family.
Even after Sara’s soul was restored, the side effects of the Lazarus Pit remained for a while. She became extremely aggressive and bloodthirsty to the point of being unstable and unpredictable. Sara was so horrified when she nearly beat someone to death that she almost quit her job as Police Lieutenant. When the effects finally started to wear off, Sara became far more humane, optimistic and moral, seemingly having become against killing her enemies in general. She then decided to continue as a vigilante but with a new identity. Thus the White Canary was born.
It’s been about a year and a half since Sara’s resurrection. She’s been promoted to Police Captain down at the precinct and still goes out at night as a vigilante. The details of her death are still a little fuzzy to her and even now, she doesn’t know that Laurel knows about her work as a vigilante. Sara is very outspoken and she knows how to have a great time, she’ll more than likely drink you under the table. Beneath her cold exterior, you’ll find a kind-hearted young lady who is very protective of her family and friends.

She’s a dog person; she likes them dumb and loyal.

biography
Oliver Queen was the oldest son of Robert and Moira Queen. Robert, the CEO of Queen Industries, made sure that both Oliver and his little sister, Thea, had everything they could ever want in life. Extravagant trips, nice cars, the finest clothes, and the newest technology... Anything Oliver and Thea wanted, they got.
Growing up, his parents always made it very clear that Oliver’s life was set in stone. He was meant to graduate high school, go to college to pursue a business degree, and then return back to New York in order to take over Queen Industries. Maybe, he could even see its satellite location launched in Seattle, sitting pretty there for a decade prior to his father retiring. Then, not only would Queen Industries dominate the east coast, but the west as well, with father and son ruling it side by side.
But it was a life Oliver never wanted for himself.
During his time in school, Oliver made friends with kids who had similar goals to himself. Goals that seemed to not include actual schoolwork. Starting his sophomore year of high school, he spent nearly every weekend at a different party, getting drunk, getting laid, or getting high. And, on a good night, all three. His grades fell drastically, and only the threat of military school from his parents was enough for Oliver to get his life together enough to scrape through with a C average and actually graduate from high school.
Due to a few sizable donations made in his name to various colleges and universities, Oliver was admitted into college. A college that he attended for a semester, before dropping out. Disappointed, his parents made another donation, where Oliver managed to stick it out for three semesters before it followed the same fate. Eventually, his parents gave up, with Oliver claiming that he didn’t actually need the degree to manage the state of Queen Industries. He could learn just as much working with his father and getting hands on experience. Somehow, it was an argument that his parents let slide, and they agreed to stop forcing him into college.
So, Oliver started going to work with his father, shadowing him and learning how to run a company. Proud of how well his son was doing, Robert took his son off on a boat trip on his family’s yacht. When a bad storm hit, the Queen’s Gambit went down, taking nearly everyone on board with it. Only Robert, Oliver, and one other of his father’s employees made it to a life raft. But, once they discovered there wasn’t enough supplies for all three of them, Robert killed his employee and sacrificed himself to try and give his son a chance to live.
For the next five years, Oliver was stranded, learning how to survive. His time had him learning archery, hand to hand combat, martial arts, other languages, become part of a mob, a league of assassins, and a government secret organization. When he felt that his life would end on the island, and that would become the last of what he ever knew, Oliver was saved.
Now 28 years old, Oliver had to try to reintegrate himself back into society. His mother suggested that she continue running the company in his place, an offer Oliver gladly allowed her to keep doing. She tried to have him spend a lot of time in intensive therapy, but he found himself slipping into old habits of trying to do the exact opposite of what she wanted. He’d claim to go to his appointments, instead choosing to spend time wandering around the city. Eventually though, his mother found out and finally cancelled all of Oliver’s treatment, figuring he was dealing with it in his own way.
Gradually, he started to show his face more and more around Queen Industries. He started to learn the ropes of the company, becoming friends with his CFO and learning to trust him with more of the day to day aspects of everything that the company had going on. After his mother’s murder, Oliver entrusted the company to his CFO full time, though he still officially held the title of CEO. Soon, rumors of corruption began to spread through Queen Industries, and Oliver started to look into all of it. Rumors that turned out to be true, and that went all the way to the top with his trusted CFO.
He learned that Queen Industries was taking money from the charities that they had once generously donated to. That the women’s shelters, after school programs, soup kitchens, orphanages, etc. were closing because they were no longer receiving financial aid from Queen Industries. Instead, the money was being channeled into offshore accounts. Accounts that were funding criminal circles, and going into the pockets of people high up in Queen Industries food chain.
After firing his CFO, Oliver swore to try and make things right. He reopened the various locations that had closed down because of the lack of funding, doubling the contributions that they had lost out on over time. He began to spend time, volunteering at as many of them as he could, determined to make amends for the wrongs his family’s company had caused them.
But it still wasn’t enough.
When he followed the corruption, Oliver began to learn about just how messed up parts of New York truly were, and it was something he wanted to combat. He was a trained killer, after all, and he had powerful friends all over the world. He knew that, in order to help the city he’d grown up in, the city that he loved, he’d have to become someone else.
Something else.
He became the Green Arrow.
Now, for about a year and a half, Oliver’s been spending his days either volunteering or working at his company, and his nights on the streets, fighting the crime that crosses his path. Normally, he follows it up further, busting major criminals and infiltrating crime circles when he feels that the police aren’t doing enough.
It’s a tiring existence, but it keeps him busy. It keeps him from dealing with the demons that have plagued him ever since that ship crashed. And, it keeps him from feeling alone now that both his parents are dead and his sister isn’t a major part of his life anymore. If it weren’t for his chaotic double life, Oliver Queen thinks he might just go insane.
hey everyone! my name is nikki. under the cut you’ll find a bunch of bullet points about DINAH DRAKE (canary); enjoy (or at least please tolerate it because i did pretty poorly)!
trigger warning: drug addiction.
she is a new yorker, born and bred. her father was a cop and her mom a singer.
for the most part, dinah’s childhood years were peaceful. she was smart, hardworking in school, and soon enough she discovered she shared her mom’s ‘gene’ for singing. as it turned out, that’s not the only gene she inherited from her, but that’s something she found out the hard way.
dinah found the person who she believed to be the love of her life in her own band. he was the bass player and they hit it off instantly without giving a damn about what would happen if the band fell out. a year later, they got married.
unfortunately, something worse happened that tore up the band. her husband became a drug addict. dinah found out soon enough about it and stood by his side as he went to rehab. the problem was, he owed money to his dealer, behind dinah’s back. the dealer sent someone---more specifically, dinah laurel lance of earth 363, an assassin who’d traveled to earth 867---to kill him. she used her sonic scream on her husband, taking his life right in front of her. that’s how her own sonic scream was triggered. the two women ended up screaming at each other (literally), one sonic wave deflecting the other. the assassin managed to escape, but dinah made it her life purpose to find her and avenge her husband’s death. so she trained extremely hard and made deals with anyone willing to lead her laurel’s way. it took eight months, but dinah managed to ambush her (with the help of another metahuman) and end her life.
she thought she’d find rest afterwards, but the pain of losing her love didn’t go away. she still had this fire burning within her that she couldn’t put out. it’s why by day she’s still a singer to make a living, but by night she puts on a mask and goes out there, chasing criminals as the canary. she doesn’t plan on killing them in order to remain “harmless” in the police’s radar, but she won’t cry about it if it comes to it.
it’s been almost five years since the death of her husband. dinah still leads a double life, but what’s driving her now is protecting innocents. she feels she’s honoring her husband’s memory that way. she’s somewhat found peace at this point. little does she know that this isn’t gonna last. you see, her soulmate is the doppelganger of the woman who killed her husband.
