The rest of my December 2022 toy haul arrived, finally. I also received my GameToys Sephiroth “1:6″ scale action figure. He is gorgeous, stunningly so, but his facial paint apps are nowhere near as perfect, detailed and precise as the prototype. Which was to be expected due to varying factors and probably heavily photo-enhanced prototype’s face paint apps. Still, it is a bit disappointing. Not too badly so, because this is a new small “company” and even Hot-Toys final paint apps are hit or miss, even with more recent video game figures. I was hoping to be able to enhance his irises a bit, but it looks like they were domed to some extent, so I don’t want to try if they are (it’ll look terrible if they are domed). I will take better photos of him later, I took quick crappy badly lit ones, because I was too excited after he was “lost” for quite a while. I am super in-love with this Sephiroth, even if he is not like the prototype, face paint wise.

I’m thrilled with young-boy Nier Bring-Arts, he is gorgeous! I am also happy I decided to get this version of Neku, although I originally thought he was a re-release, so I could un-box one and not a completely “new” figure. Of course, I am happy with my Uchiha brothers’ acrylic goodies, they are gorgeous (as is to be expected). 

As I said, I am very happy with GT Sephiroth, but I wish I could attempt giving him more detailed irises, shading his face a bit further as the prototype had more detailed irises and shading as well (make even subtle skin texture). If I am able to get a second opened eye sculpt, I might try. This figure is an unlicensed one, but GameToys didn’t take anyone’s work and made copies of it without permission. This is their own sculpts, both heads and body -- the outfit, pauldrons, wing, belts, etc. everything is their own sculpting and tailoring. I see this type of figure as people who sell/purchase fan-art or make cosplaying items for profit, without an actual license from the owner of said license. This figure isn’t a copy of anything licensed by Square Enix, who would probably never give a 1:6 toy maker their license for Final Fantasy, because they make their own non-scale action figures, which I own all of based on Sephiroth. I will take comparison photos with Remake PAK Sephy, and AC Sephy, as those are the ones, I own doubles of. This figure is close to 13″ in height, PAK are a touch under 10″, if memory serves, and are all made out of plastic, no cloth whatsoever. 

I also got my Monst Savage Baby doll from their official Taobao shop. The doll is a lot smaller than I thought, I don’t know why some sellers list them as 30cm, but they are actually 20cm including the head. It’s an adorable little doll nonetheless, I am looking forward to customizing mine, and glad they are not soft-squishy plastic, since they are listed as being “rubber.” They are pretty hard plastic, even the head, which I am pretty happy about.
