Holy shit. WB is shutting down Monolith and cancelling the Wonder Woman game, which was supposed to be the first game since the two Middle-earth games to use the patented Nemesis system.

love the concept of a stormlight game with the nemesis system for the Shadow of Middle Earth games for the fused/regals set on ancient Roshar
Shadow of Mordor: A Journey Through the Dark Heart of Middle-earth- A game I used to play with my brother like friend
Gaming is more than just a hobby; it's a way to connect with our past and the people we cherish. Dive into my latest blog on Medium where I explore how Shadow of Mordor became a bridge to a lost friend. Share your own gaming memories too!
My Late Brother like Friend Shivansh Raj Pandey told me about it, he said- “Brother try this one — it’s called Shadow of Mordor.” I said okie, let’s go but I never thought this game will have this kind of deep memories and feelings that connect me with him. Rest In Peace brother! “Some games are more than just a way to pass the time—they’re a bridge to the people we’ve lost and the memories we…

I wonder what the next step forward for big, interactive storytelling in games will be. We’ve seen stuff like the “play as anyone” system in Watch_Dogs: Legion, the Nemesis System in the Shadow Of games, and in the indie sphere Wildermyth does a lot with very little in terms of giving your team of blorbos pesonalities and letting your decisions in random events feel natural.
Obviously we’re light years away from AI DMs that will let you do Literally Anything and react accordingly, but I wonder what the next couple of steps for games like that will be?
I think the IP that would benefit the most from the Warner Bros nemesis system isn't Batman, but fucking Mad Max. The orcs in Shaddow of War are the best goddamn part, and in a Mad Max world where people are named fucking Scrotus and like Smeglord, the possibility for fun nemisies with weird cars and shit is just too tantalizing.
Imagine if World of Warcraft incorporated the Nemisis System of Shadow of Mordor / Shadow of war.
You’re going along your routine, doing your quests and such, when suddenly a random mob kills you, let’s say it’s a Troll. You’re in Stranglethorn Vale and this Troll kills you. As you die, you’re given a bit of randomly selected greif from the Troll, who then receives a name, and some randomly generated traits and personality bits. He’s also significantly stronger then you are now.
As you continue your travels through stranglethorn, you will probably encounter him again, he’s a sort of phase-locked mob only you or any people in your party can see, and he explicitly singles you out by name. Maybe he will even take the place of other random mobs in quests, you might go to stop the dread pirate roberts from poisoning booty bay’s ale, but instead you’ll find your Troll, or the Troll will be one of Robert’s lackies.
If you don’t kill him and move on to the next area, he’ll slowly start following you, to northrend, to outland, to the broken isles, growing more powerful with each encounter and each instance of killing you. If you kill him, he drops some random level-appropriate loot (maybe even some Blockchain Loot) that is built for your class and spec, and maybe even references you and / or your nemesis in the description. Of course this Troll has a chance of coming back and cheating death, likely with some scars or a different personality depending on how he was killed.
Eventually you kinda go through all of Azeroth, encountering one or more of these Nemesi again and again, maybe even getting some randomly generated quests that involve them, maybe the Troll who killed you, “Azgal the terrible” and some Gnoll who killed you in the barrens “Qui-quor the fertile” work together for a time and ambush you, or one betrays the other and starts wearing some part of them such as a skull or a tusk as a trophy.
I just think the nemesis system is neat and has some interesting potential in other games.
This is Ur-Lisak the Pain Seeker. Dude runs up to me out of the blue, an ambush, and starts screaming at me that he wants me to GIVE HIM PAIN because he LOVES IT.
So naturally I went out of my way to recruit him. Soon as I off his old boss, he'll be my new bodyguard.
finally the lil shits from the Nemesis system is done
slowly redoing all the Solar System, the art is severely outdated (Saturn's fucking arms bent in unnatural ways also gamma’s reff is slightly old but meh)
anyway here is some info on the fuckers
Nemesis: A red dwarf built of sass and memes to say the least. Most of the planets that rotate around her are adoptive (or bastard planets as some of the older stars call em), Her laughter and voice like thunder wiht a temper that can be aggravated through two means, eating her food and insulting her planets, then you're fucked, not to mention she has a large plethora of swearwords and curses under her belt. Her gravity is rather strong for a dwarf star and has been known to throw around some rather large asteroids for the hell of it. She is also a rather high ranking dwarf star amongst the council of the Blood Stars, the three sashes covering her stomach are a rank of a lower class but she asked for them purely so she could beat up any dwarf that threw shit at her, so far her death count is at 36027...and counting, During her early years she had a deep rooted hatred for her sister star Sol, why? why did she get to go main sequence and not her? it tooks billions of years for the hate to ebb away, only to finally be stamped out when Gia formed and the small interstar war ended. Can be found dabbing.
Gia: A small planet around the side of Luna that believe it or not has life, Earth knows about this and the older planet takes time out of her rotation to help the younger one. her kindness is rivaled by MakeMake and her happiness by Pluto. the small planet has a rather big distaste for violence, but why wouldn't she? she was formed when Sol and Nemesis fought the final battle before calling truse. she looks much like Earth, Blue hair, Blue eyes and brown skin, though she is slightly more chubby than Earth. She is apart of a binary with Theia
Theia: now despite her dead counterpart in the Solar System, this little thing is Saturn 2.0 but an even worse bite, she is nearly always clashing heads with Mars due to the name..also the fact that she screeches at him about how he couldn't hold onto his life. She looks alot like Venus in terms of body and Saturn in clothing, Orangy yellow hair that flows behind her and a short dress much the same colour. Even though she is tough she has a soft spot for Gia, keeping her safe when Nemesis is having a bad day.
now onto the big boy!
Gamma: the largest planet out of them all, four times the size of Jupiter, his brother. Like his brother he has the curly hair, same colour and shade. A grey tank top and green cargo pants is the chosen clothing of this giant, two rings cross over each other in a X formation over his planet and three great storms rage across the surface of his planet. Don't let his looks or his strong ass irish accent throw you off, he is the most sweetest thing you will ever meet. If you are stuck in Nemesis's system, find him, he'll help you out in a heartbeat! He is the only one who can actualy get a good punch at Nemesis when she flies of the handle. Can be found dabbing alongside Nemesis
Xeno, or X: probably was most hated planet in the solar system, even to the point of his own mother star has a slight distaste for him. Blue eyes that are borderline black along with his hair and also lacking the finesse that his brother has, Xeno is more of an attack first no questions later celestial. No moons to call his own he was ejected from the solar system in the final spurts of Jupiter's and Saturn's war, the two gas giants leave a foul taste in his mouth. Though ti was better for the system him being thrown out left him bitter and almost always constantly thinking of ways to royally fuck up the gas giants. Solas did find him a few million years in the form of a sister planet that came from Jupiter's system called Nine, strange name yes but he didn't complain, a friend is a friend. he orbits the furthest out of the system and it even crosses over back into the oort cloud
