Neobuxbaumia polylopha
Neobuxbaumia is a genus of columnar cacti common in southern Mexico, but N. polylopha comes from east-central Mexico, farther to the north. The plant pictured here has been flowering each year for decades, but this year it has made fruits! In the upper photo, 2 young buds are visible on the upper part of the stem, with 2 fruits below. The lower photo shows a close-up of the fruits, which contain many round glossy-black seeds.
