Neobuxbaumia polylopha
Neobuxbaumia is a genus of columnar cacti common in southern Mexico, but N. polylopha comes from east-central Mexico, farther to the north. The plant pictured here has been flowering each year for decades, but this year it has made fruits! In the upper photo, 2 young buds are visible on the upper part of the stem, with 2 fruits below. The lower photo shows a close-up of the fruits, which contain many round glossy-black seeds.

Neobuxbaumia polylopha
Columnar cacti are abundant in the warmer parts of Mexico, but the number of species diminishes as one goes north. Neobuxbaumia plylopha s the species with the northernmost occurrence in eastern Mexico, extending into the eastern part of San Luis Potosi. Our plant pictured is a little tall to easily see the flowers from the ground, so I used a stepladder to get a close-up. Note the burgundy color of the bud on the right of the photo, as compared to the pink petals and yellow pollen of the open flower.

I’m honestly not sure what to suggest here, but a song that’s always struck a chord with me is “Iris” by Goo Goo Dolls. That’s probably the closest I’m ever going to get to answering this one correctly.

DOOOOOOOOOOGS!!! Cats are fine too though. But mostly dogs. Bonus points if hound or shepherd.

Pottermore tells me that I’m a Ravenclaw. I also empathize with Slytherin’s and their struggles.

Somewhere else. A planeswalker in the multiverse so that I can just nope out of any situation that I don’t like.

It would be Ezuri, Renegade Leader. I’ve been wanting to take it apart though and make it a Selesnya Elves deck though with Emmara as my commander. It’s a thought in progress.
