According to Montenegro's public broadcaster RTCG, Montesong winners NeonoeN have withdrawn from the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

The band released a statement voluntarily withdrawing and wishing luck to whomever is selected to go to Eurovision in their place. Moreover, NeonoeN reiterated that they didn't believe prior performances of the song jeopardized the outcome of Montesong, and recognized that the EBU had allowed songs in similar situations to their own into the contest.

The band then went on to express their gratitude for the kindness they experienced from RTCG, other musicians, and fans, further stating that they want everyone to send their support to Montenegro at Eurovision.

According to the official Montesong Instagram account, NeonoeN's song "CLICKBAIT" may be disqualified from Eurovision since a version of the song was performed last year at the Zabjelo Culture Festival. After a consultation with the EBU tomorrow, December 2nd, a final decision about the song's eligibility for Eurovision will be made.

After NeonoeN's withdrawal from the contest, RTCG has selected Montesong runner up Nina Žižić and her song "Dobrodošli" to represent Montenegro at Eurovision in 2025.

Žižić scored only one point less than NeonoeN in Montesong.

I want to do a fun little thing this year where every day this month before Eurovision's Grand Final, I'll post a National Final song that didn't make it to the contest this year. Because my goodness, it's been WILD and there were so many songs this year that deserve attention.

First up: Clickbait by NeonoeN, from Montenegro! This song won Montesong and was supposed to represent the country in Eurovision, but became one of the first disqualifications of this weird, weird season after it was found out it was performed in front of a live audience before September 1st, 2024, and that's against the rules, so they decided to withdraw. Alas...

I know that expectations for Montenegro are below ground level and their song isn't even that bad tbh, but they could have gone for that cool rock song as a good comeback but I guess that they like flopping...

I hope they'll put some effort into revamping it. Fighting for some dignity in the semi final should be a priority!

At least the drummer is pleasing the eye 😉
