I agree with you that its shitty from player accessibility standpoint, but PST kinda does make it work narratively I think? It sort of treats mage as prestige class. You have to go thru several side-quests AND give Mebbeth right answers for what you learned from it, the game talks about magic being powerful, but dangerous if unchecked, the influence on others and the universe.

I mean it makes sense that you gotta go extra mile if you want to solve the questions of life’s meaning :D

{ @neranishin, how does paladin’s aura generally works? As I understand, it equals detect good spell and not much beside it. Neeshka mentions that Casavir’s aura makes her skin itch but this has more to do with her ancestry and not her alignment as she’s CN.

Any specific ideas how it would work on Devon? He’s NE but aside from a paladin knowing this, are there any additional effects that might apply? Like Devon being unable to physically touch a paladin without magic protection that would bypass the aura/hide his alignment? }
