I'm genuinely curious why there's so much hat for Michael Chu? Like I can understand not liking Blizzard's decisions when it comes to the lore/story around Overwatch, but Chu is just one of probably hundreds of people (developers, producers, legal, marketing, merchandising, etc..) involved in it.

He’s the lead writer, though, as well as being the one in charge of voice lines. So naturally, he receives the brunt of criticism when people have issues with either of those.

I suppose the argument could be made that Overwatch is just a shooter and we were all naive to expect good lore to begin with but I mean it’s obvious they are at least trying? The comics and shorts they’ve released are pretty good, at least IMO. Maybe some of the criticism is harsh and probably could stand to be more constructive, but a lot of it IS constructive and coming from a good place but is easily dismissed as “oh those Ph*rm*rcy shippers hating on Chu again because their ship isn’t canon.” Most of us are just trying to point out where improvements could be made and why we feel like it needs it. Also, some of the criticism is from people that hate Ph*rm*rcy, for what it’s worth.

And then there’s the voice lines.

There used to be a Ph*rah/M*rcy interaction that was exclusive to them.M*rcy: Keep the skies clear for mePh*rah: Let’s keep them clear together!

When it was pointed out more than half a year ago that the lines no longer triggered, it was explained away as a “bug.” They promised to fix it. Now, while the lines are back in the game, they still don’t trigger properly. M*rcy might say her line and Ph*rah says nothing, or vice versa. 

There’s also a Z*nyatta/G*nji exclusive interaction (I have to confess I’m not sure of the particulars on that particular dialogue) that doesn’t trigger properly any longer.

I mean sure it could be a coincidence that the the most popular M*rcy ship (Ph*rm*rcy) and the most popular G*nji ship (G*nyatta) have bugged lines while M*rcy/G*nji lines work fine, but given that Chu admittedly is a fan of that ship, it makes people question why the bug still isn’t fixed almost half a year later. Especially when other bugged voice lines get fixed immediately.

Which ties back into character favoritism and such because this event ends in like what 2 days or something and they felt it was REALLY IMPORTANT to fix something G*nji says while other voice lines are still bugged.

Anyway, I hope that explains it a little? My other mutuals may have more to add.

what’s your ideal job?

Ideal job if money wasn’t really an issue would probably be: professional nature photographer (expense travels paid of course). 

Although I think being a social media person for a video game might be interesting, too. The problem is, I’m not really a people person in person? It would have to be like, I’d run the twitter or the tumblr or something. I do like interacting with people that way.

Favorite anime of all time?

I’m gonna say NOIR. I mean all BeeTrain animes are great, but that was the first in the girls-with-guns series and I have fond memories of it. I still have Mireille boots somewhere, just never got around to doing the cosplay.

Oh you know oddly enough I’d forgotten about that possibility since I haven’t run PotD in a long time. But yeah that seems likely.

Hopefully, that gets resolved in part 2 when the Garleans respond and she gets a more influential role in the official command structure.

I hope so. I was just wandering around Foundation and saw that and was like “wait, what?” I had to go back to East Shroud to make sure there wasn’t two of her lol
