I’m about to go into this Pug Cafe with my new Nerdology Shutterbug Cutie camera. I want to see if the lil pups inside will say Meow for the camera. I can give them a bagel if they get too wild and try to nip at my ankles. I noticed the owners already had to put a few pugs inside the pastries and drinks to contain them. Wish me luck!

Nobel Prize for Nerdology

I would like to take this time to nominate myself for the Nobel Prize in Nerdology.  I am not going to get into too much politics on this, but have you ever noticed that people you never heard of win for stuff you don’t usually care about?  Physics and Chemistry I get that I won’t understand a lot of it, but it should contribute to overall development right...  Then we get to the two that I really think it’s impossible not to get mad about because, it’s rare that we have anyone who really contributes to these and in picking someone who hasn’t achieved what one side wants, it’s kind of divisive which defeats the point.  The Peace Prize should only be handed out when it’s really worth it, which as I said is rare...  Next, the one that really grinds my gears...the Nobel Prize for literature....this has become THE MOST annoying subject for so many that picking people that few people ever read is stupid.  In our culture today, reading is becoming less and less prevalent.  Finding that person who strikes the right balance between educating and gaining readership should be the person picked.  No offense to this year’s pick, a woman who wrote on women in WW2 and Soviet Russia, but who in Marshall’s name is going to read that?  That is basically an academic pick, by academics that has no bearing on the real world...which, effectively negates the reason for the prize.  That’s basically a grant than, not a prize.  Think of all the great writer’s you can name in the past 20 years...odds are none of them were even considered for a Nobel Prize in Literature.  Why?  Because they wrote for the masses, not to a select group of academics who read shit no one else on Earth will read.  I’m not demeaning her work, but it’s for a very small section of people and most people won’t read it.  A prize for literature doesn’t have to be about popularity, but it should promote the subject material to the masses.  This is why I propose the replacement of Peace and/or Literature when the pickings are light in those years with something that is never short on in our culture: Nerdology.  Yes, the Nobel Prize for Nerdology, and I am nominating myself for the Prize!  Any seconds...oh I don’t need one, I am like unto a god, I decide what the world needs...I am the winner, regardless of my actual contribution...this isn’t corruption, this is Nobel!
