They had already assisted to two of such receptions for Nerdanel’s own sons, with both Makalaurë and Atarinke both having found a spouse in the last 75 years. Nerdanel had no doubt Tyelkormo would take a while to settle, always running to the wilds with Oromë as he was. Still, that left Maitimo. Her first-born had shown no interest in any of the many women that fawned on him, a fact Nerdanel was secretly happy for. But he also had sought neither scholar nor craftswoman, preferring to spend his time in the midst of politics around his grandfather. And with his cousin Findekáno. Those two were practically joined at the hip these days, and so Nerdanel was surprised when she saw her nephew coming toward her, alone. Findekáno was also unwed, and Nerdanel had exchanged some politely questioning words with Anairë about their respective eldest sons. People were starting to talk about how Findekano was ever proper but laughed openly only at Maitimo's words, and how her son would always find time in his otherwise filled schedule for his cousin.
Findekáno’s cheeks were rosy and she smiled at thinking how her usually self-contained nephew probably was enjoying the free wine as much as she was. She gestured him over. If anybody held the key of what was happening with Maitimo, it would be Findekáno.
