Hestia and Aphrodite

Hestia- Describe your ideal home

A bit small for some, but would keep 2 or 3 people comfy. It’s comfy really: not exactly cluttered, but lots of art + art supplies, a few pillows on the couch that you should use dammit, none of that decorative shit, and windows, looooots of windows. Maybe somewhere for me to set up a small garden? It’d have to be full of hardy things that I can’t kill easily. Maybe there would be a cat, but probably not, and I know I definitely couldn’t take care of a dog even though I really want one.

All in all? Small, cozy, sunny, and I’ll be happy.

Aphrodite- What do you find attractive?

Disclaimer: I am Ace as fuck, so this is a hard one. I don’t really care about appearance that much because, ironically enough, I will love or hate the same features depending entirely upon a person’s personality. With that being said...

I guess I just love people who recognize that, though it won’t always look pretty, kindness is always beautiful. Kindness to me means giving someone a smile to cheer them up, as well as doing what is necessary to make someone stop behaving monstrously. It’s grabbing a flamethrower and hounding your friend’s inner demons, but it’s also occasionally telling them their shit stinks just like everyone else.

So yeah- Kindness.

Yeah it’s one of ATLA’s particularities I think: it juggled with so many heavy themes but - in order to keep the tone light and kid-friendly I guess - glossed over some of them (or kept them out of focus). I don’t even think the Air Nomad genocide was called that proper in the show for example, and Aang’s grief wrt what happened to his people is only half-explored (most often only through implications and subtext) in a few episodes rather than dealt with directly.

Ofc nobody is at fault for not paying attention to details that are not brought to our attention. ATLA was subtle with a lot of its characters’ important elements - I’m kind of torn on that actually. There’s a part of me that likes that not everything was spelled out for us (it’s all there but you’re the one that has to pick up the pieces to form a more complete picture and give them meaning). I also think it’s closer to real life in many ways? But yeah, there are some stuff I wish had been more present too.

W/ Katara and her mother versus Katara and her culture, it’s like you said: many deaths are hard to understand but one can mean the world. Katara was affected by both tragedy, but what was done to her mother was personal, more tangible and real.
