Day 2 - Nerine

Title: Nerine: Connection, Happiness, Security, and Affection.

Summary: Moon misses someone that she left behind in Kanto because of their responsibilities. Now, she’s homesick and can’t leave because of her obligations of being a Champion.

~~Story Begins~~

Moon was always a  reckless child. She was told many times to never play on the volcanoes mountain, but she did. It wasn’t really her fault. Something in her soul kept luring her there, kept drawing her close to fire-type Pokemon.

Nothing really clicked until that fateful day where she finally met a Pokemon that connected with her in her heart. She would never forget that day and she held that memory close to her as she did the Island Challenge.

Moon turned her attention back to her friends. Hau was still talking about the new malasada restaurant and how delicious it was. She didn’t miss anything exciting or important,  but some good old Kanto style omurice sounds good to her right now.

She wanted to go back to  Kanto.  She wanted to see her old friends, the family again. She wanted to see her special Pokemon again. She was homesick and she couldn’t receive her cure.

~~Pokemon~~

Lillie had convinced Hau and Gladion to go shopping with her and Moon. Lillie was still trying to figure out what clothes would look good on her without her mother’s opinion and Moon was desperate to find a kimono. She hated wearing them, but maybe it would help dull some of the pain in her heart.

They passed a flower shop while  Moon usually walks by without looking, they were having a sale on Nenines. Nenines always grew around Mt. Moon. She hated that cave when she was younger because she always got lost and it was a dangerous place for her Pokemon. Rock and Ground-type moves were super effective against fire.

“Moon,” Lillie’s voice shook Moon out of her thoughts. “Is something the matter?”

“No,” Moon said and looked away from the flowers. “Just thinking about home.”

Hau laughed. “We are your home. Alola has so much more to  offer than Kanto.”

“Kanto has its own little charms,” Moon said.

“Pathetic,” Gladion said with a huff. “The Champion is getting homesick by flowers of all things.”

Moon wasn’t going to get riled up by Gladion. She knew he wanted an excuse to get out of clothes shopping. She wasn’t going to give him that satisfaction.

~~Pokemon~~

Moon was walking around  Aether with Gladion. He somehow figured out that she could communicate with Fire-type Pokemon and there was an injured Volcarona who kept attacking everyone who was trying to heal it.

Gladion wanted to  know why plus it gave him more time to spend with Moon alone (a fact that Moon wasn’t aware  of.)

“Mr. Gladion, sir!” one of the new Aether grunt shouted as he ran to the highly powerful couple. “W-w-we have a situation!”

Gladion glared at the member and wondered for the tenth time that day if Aether would run better if it was just him running it.

“What happened in the lab this time?” Gladion said as Moon attempted to talk to the Volcarona.

“Th-th-th-there is a big yellow bird sitting on the e-e-e-dge of Aether. It-it won’t move,” the grunt said. “I-I-I haven’t seen anything like it before.”

“Are you sure it wasn’t just some Charizard?” Gladion said with a sneer and crossed his arms.

“P-p-pretty sure,” Grunt said. “Charizards d-d-d-on’t have beaks to p-p-peck the glass.”

“Ow,” Moon said. “Okay. I understand. We are just trying to help. It hurts to keep in the air with  how that wing is.”

“What happened,” Gladion said and turned his attention to her. She was holding her arm where three claws marks were at. “It attacked you too!?”

“MOOOOLLLL~” a cry rang out.

“What in Arceus name was that?” Gladion said.

“Tha-tha-that would be the yellow bird pokemon, sir,” the grunt said in a shaky voice.

“Wait! Yellow bird pokemon?” Moon said. “It wouldn’t happen to have flames on its wings would it?”

“Ex-exactly. How did -”

“Moon! Wait!” Gladion yelled as Moon ran out of the room. He followed her out of the room which left the Grunt alone.

The poor Grunt said a  quick prayer for their safety before he ran to the shelter of the safe room.

~~Pokemon~~

Moon wanted to cry and laugh at the same time. She found the Pokemon that was terrifying everyone in Aether. The  Pokemon must have sensed her connection getting closer as it had its face pressed up against the window.

“Moltres!” Moon said. “What are you doing here?” She ran up to the windows and placed her hands against the glass.

“Moon,” Gladion said. He had just caught up to her when  Moltres started to peck at the window. “What is that?”

“Is there a way to get outside from here?” Moon said.

“Yes. There is an emergency exit right out that door,” Gladion said. “What- Moon! Wait! It could be an Ultra Beast!”

“Moltres is far from being an Ultra Beast,” Moon said. “Moltres is  home.”

Gladion watched from the safety of pixie glass as Moon wrapped her arms around Moltres neck. The flames grazing over her hands and down her arm where her injury was at. The injury slowly disappearing from her arm as the bird nudged her cheek with its own.

Gladion would have to do some research for this Moltres which would require first-hand observations.

Maybe  Moon wouldn’t mind giving him a tour of the  Kanto region.

We've had almost no rain all year, yet these nerines have flowered anyway. Amazing! I hadn't realised there were two different types here, but the first one is larger and more of a salmon pink. The Japanese maple is a seedling, the best coloured one I've had, so it will be coddled. A couple of roos were feeding nearby when I took the washing off the line and I managed to get one pic before she took off again.
