In this short video we can see the machines introduced in Nepal to process their local Alo nettle into fibers and spin it. The process includes softening the stems with a cylindrical press, then beating the resulting softer stems and then card the fibers. In the end the fibers are spun with a mechanical spinning machine. The video doesn’t give any information about the kind of retting that they are using.
