Thinking I might use some of my ramie and beeswax to spin and braid my own biodegradable fishing line for this season...
Fiber arts people, does anyone have experience retting indoors? I live in an apartment but I’ve been experimenting with foraged nettles and I think it would be neat to try retting them (for efficiency reasons and also for “save my thumbnails” reasons) but I don’t exactly have a yard to keep a bigass tub of water in and anything I do have them in would need to be small/portable enough to dump out in the sink eventually. Any suggestions?
First attempt at spinning nettles from my mom’s yard! Not fantastic, but I’m pretty pleased!
I have very little, but enough for a cute little bracelet, no?
Allan Brown’s film is very detailed and explanatory about his chosen processes in order to make yarns from nettles.
