some thoughts about neuvirth

most of you dont know this, but i was a three season athlete, once upon a time, and i primarily played soccer. i pushed myself to the limit, like all three season athletes do, and i was actually really good. why does this matter? why do you care? because i know what it is to collapse in the middle of a game. i wasn't on the field, really. i was heading to the bench, after almost a solid seventy minutes playing. and suddenly my breath was gone, and my vision went dark, and i collapsed into a teammate. it was only for a few seconds. i was lucky my teammate was there to catch me so i didnt hit my head. it was one of the most terrifying moments of my life. (and listen. it takes a whole hell of a lot to effect me like that. i played a whole half of a game with a broken foot and a quarter of a basketball game with a broken finger.) neurvirth collapsed ON THE ICE. in the MIDDLE OF THE GAME. we dont know why. he likely doesnt know why. his FAMILY likely doesnt know why. that is TERRIFYING. so honestly. if you have to preface your concern with "i hate the flyers but", FUCK YOU. you have no idea what kind of terror it is to be in that situation. you have no idea what it is to have that kind of thing happen to you. he is a PERSON. he COLLAPSED ON THE ICE FOR SEEMINGLY NO REASON. FUCK YOU if you have to establish your hate for a team before your concern for a PERSON on it.
