YAY waking up to this ask was great cause I just got to think about Teyvat and gender during my commute LOL.

First, I don’t think dragons would have the same concept of gender as humans, so being basically agender comes default with whatever remaining/built in dragon sovereign memories he has.

I also don’t think humans in Teyvat have as strong gender roles as humans irl, nor use gendered language the same way we do. (it’s my headcanon that gendered language in Teyvat is kind of a more novel thing, and regional dialects might ignore it or use it more, given older femme gods go by Lord (Rukhadevadha, Egeria), and we only have Lady used <500 years)(actually I need to check webcomic venti on how he addresses Murata to confirm, but it’s still just headcanon anyways)

Furina is not a gender conformer or enforcer by our standards, and within Teyvat I might speculate she’s non conforming (ignoring her pronoun choice in Japanese) because her clothing aligns more with male npcs than female npcs. Since Neuvillette influentially adopts his human practices he observes from Furina, and his clothing is confirmed to be the vestement for the Iudex, and it’s a product of Furina, basically I don’t think he has many purposeful gender presentation markers.

Um so his gender can be whatever that makes it yuri. Furina is also the most direct descendant of an Oceanid those fish guys don’t have sex either they’re just women fish things. Yea.
