Troy is still great. Actually, my favorite movie ever. Sure, it'd be great if Achilles and Patroclus were lovers in it (because they were). But hey, it was 2004. And the choice the Achilles made when sailing to Troy is just... everything. Plus, brad Pitt is HOT.

strap in anon cause you just told a gender studies grad student that is also a massive queer, to accept the erasure of a same-sex relationship in a movie. a massive queer whose focus at university is queerness and media. you made a mistake. this rant is not a personal attack on you. but you must understand. my feelings on queerness and media are STRONG and AGGRESIVE.

also! there were gay people and same sex romance in movies and television in 2004. like i was, i admit, all of 10 years old in 2004. but I very clearly remember my family watching will and grace reruns nonstop, and queer eye for the straight guy. and like my parents are straight. so.

in sweden, which is not hollywood BUT, one of the most popular comedians of that time were the gay man jonas gardell. and he hosted the swedish edition of eurovision with his husband mark levengood back in 2002. with the viewerships of millions of the swedish population they flirted with eachother on television for the several week long swedish-pre eurovision competition. my feelings towards jonas gardell is as an adult queer are complicated but that were a thing that happened.

also 2004 is like the height of queer theory popularity in swedish academia. approx one queer theory article produced per second *guessed by me*

also brad pitt look like potato. and i say this as someone who too have potato face. but i won’t pretend i find him hot. also i am lesbian. and while that don’t stop me from appreciating the looks of men. brad pritt hotness is not, a priorty in my life. nah. my total lack of care for his appearnce is almost legandary. is he not just that eras version of a bland faced actor named chris?
