Sorry to be offline for a while, and I hope you all are doing alright. Been a crazy time, and no surprise I've been seeing posts from friends about the use of AI in the fandom. The wonderful @stottlemorgan and @pinescent-and-gingerbread articulated the problem far better than I could; not much I can add, beyond saying it hurts my heart.
My mom died this week. It was devastating and profound, and I can't wrap my head around it. And after holding her hand and hearing her last words, I can't help but think there's no greater injury to humanity than its fast, unthinking embrace of AI. And no more urgent and important moment than now to connect, using our own hearts and time and creative work. AI is a thief and a liar, falsely packaged as our savior.
Anyway, while I try to process some of this and distract myself with a few words (feeling a little rusty getting back into it), I'll just add that sure, AI doesn't have a job or classes to go to, it doesn't get sick or have depression or self-doubt, it doesn't have kids, it doesn't have loved ones who die too young, it doesn't have a finite lifespan - things that supposedly make humans less efficient, but also make us human - and it doesn't give a damn about creating, just spreading. And, in the aftermath of its nonexistent trials, it will not bloom, life-tested and full of authentic new color. It doesn't want to urgently share with you the next idea or scene or our love of characters, bursting to get out. We do.
If you're reading and committing to non-AI art and fics, we love you and sharing with you. Thank you, for reading and letting us know you're there 💞
And I'll join in by listing just a few of the people I can think of off the top of my head who are creating things with their hearts and brilliant minds, who love this fandom so much they are dedicated to the struggle and joy of making new stories and art that connect all of us.

I got a message today from someone accusing me of using AI in my work. I can only assume it was a bot or a troll, because I'm pretty sure AI hasn't graduated to putting rhinestones and googly eyes on things, but I'm going to address the concern anyway. No. I do not use AI in any stage of the process, and I never will. The designs for everything come straight out of my head. Which explains why they're always a little wonky and weird :) I do all the painting by hand. I apply all the sparkles by hand. If the Desk Buddies have accessories, I make those too. My husband The Worm Guy takes all the pictures. There is no AI involved. I am the smallest of small businesses...I create my Buddies, from beginning to end, with no assistance or influence from man or machine. No two Buddies will ever be the same. Each one is one of a kind and completely handmade, by me. (Any cat hair that becomes inadvertently involved is entirely Scout's fault, however. I take no responsibility for her evil ways.) I aim for complete transparency in my work, so I am always happy to address any concerns. If y'all ever have any questions, hit me up!
But seriously...who the hell thought this little guy was AI?

Full disclosure on the kissing pics
I may have mentioned it elsewhere, but someone on Twitter pointed out that Delta has no photo mode poses, but because I said I don't use AI, how did I get the carry pic? I said, you're right, no shame in my game, there's a mod.
But it's not a photo mode mod. We're all familiar with Rule 34 of the internet, are we not? Well, sure as shittin', someone made a porno mod for Starfield called SnuSnuField. Let me tell you, it was an onerous task getting it and a variety of accessory framework mods installed from Nexus Mods to get this thing to work. PC only, of course.
But, besides the obvious porn bits, there are clothed moments of holding hands, "caressing" which is very cute, kissing, and carrying in one's arms, and then it gets on to the freaky-deeky. There is also a SnuSnuField Lite but it's still a little wonky after the update.
Look, I went through a lot of trouble just to get that pic of Sam carrying Lilu over the threshold for the Paradiso wedding night thing. I am nothing if not dedicated to a bit. But one thing I am dedicated to is NEVER using AI for an image. Better that the fic just go without or even have something cringe than resort to generative AI.
Spellscar [activated]
I know the general consensus on the Spellplague is meh, but I’m so intrigued by it, especially for my sorcerer character. Would they be more susceptible or more immune? How would it affect them if magic is part of their physiology? What about the second sundering?
Thoughts thoughts thoughts
Dearest Readers, I never imagined I would have to make my stance on this subject any more blunt than it already is. And yet, we live in a so
Not quite on the nose with occult. But, I have been getting asks about people who want to use ChatGPT to cast spells for them and I justtttttttt
remembered I'm a 3D artist
Her design is based of those taiyaki pastries. I do think her design works better with the snow parts taken out
This was incredibly fun to do and stage the fake nendoroid sales shots!
Here's her original design sheet
Some things I've learned from this project:
Waffle textures are way harder than I thought to put on shaped pieces. it makes a lot of holes in the geometry
happily know how to texture paint again kinda
braids are hard to model
