What is Neverfree? Who the hell are these characters? Read below!
What is Neverfree?:
- Neverfree is an Equestria Girls alternate universe where the Elements of Harmony and the magic of friendship don’t exist, but magic and technology do. It’s full of warring nations, assassination, murder, and other terrible things. It’s partially inspired by Game of Thrones, Nightmare Before Christmas and DC Comics. It’s also heavily inspired by Siden’s AU with Ivory and Sparkling Cider.
- The main characters of the universe are The Six, six people of prophecy who all have some kind of destiny involving each other. The prophecy foretells that The Six must choose to either save the world from unspeakable evil, or let it burn. It’s sorta like Suicide Squad, where the villains gotta choose whether or not they wanna be the good guys for a change. I’m not sure if that’s what Suicide Squad is, but it should be.
- The time period is kind of a technologically advanced Victorian era. It’s a world where an industrial revolution was heavily enhanced by the discovery of magic. People who can use magic mutate at puberty and grow a horn on their forehead. Their magic is very X-Men like, in that it’s a specific power unique to each magic-user.
- There are four major types of people in Neverfree.
-- Gaians, who are the Earth Ponies, who have no gifts of powers and believe in enhancing your own body to become more powerful, be it through physical training or genetic engineering, but never through technology. Their motto is “Tech is for the weak.”
-- The Aero, who are the Pegasi, who are obsessed with technology. They use guns, bombs, cybernetic enhancements, etc. to make themselves stronger. They’re generally disdainful towards the Gaians. Most of them are obsessed with vehicles of some nature, such as Captain Long Shot and her airship, “The Wonderbolt.” Their motto is “Flesh is weak.”
-- The Gifted, who are the Unicorns, who are born with the gift of magic. Every one of them develops a special power unique to them at puberty, and they grow a horn on their forehead that’s a different shape or size or color unique to each Gifted. They’re considered Gaian before they develop their power, and are often shunned by Gaians after they develop their power. Their motto is “The sun is rising.”
-- Solarborne, the Alicorns, gods among mortals. Only a few Solarborne exist, including the Two Queens, Queen Lustri and Queen Obscura (Celestia and Luna), and Princess Prisma (Cadence). They’re literally worshipped by most people of Neverfree. They have extremely powerful magic, such as the ability to control light or the ability to bring dreams into reality. They’re also giants. They’re like 12-14 feet tall. They don’t have a motto.
- There’s also the Miners (Diamond Dogs), the Pixies (Breezies), the Shifters (Changelings), the Steamwings (Griffons), and Dragons.
- There’s also a lot of war and politics going on in the various nations. Those nations consisting of Trottingham, Canterlot, and other regions from the MLP universe.
Who are The Six?
- The Six are six beings of prophecy who possess an ancient power that could save or destroy the world of Neverfree if they ever discover it and combine their powers. The prophecy states that an ancient evil will one day awaken and threaten the entire world, and The Six will choose to save it or destroy it. The Six consist of the Mane Six from MLP, with different names and personalities. They’re not good guys. They’re villains. Every one of ‘em’s a scoundrel. They all also represent things that cause depression, anxiety or suicidal tendencies.
- Dying Light (Twilight Sparkle) represents Abandonment. She was left in a dragon’s lair as a baby by her parents, expected to be devoured, probably because she was born with a horn instead of developing it at puberty, which has a lot of rumors spinning around it but it’s generally feared. She used her magic, as a baby, to choke the dragon to death with its own child. The child lived, and she now uses it as an attack dragon. Its name is Kindlefang (Spike). She’s kinda like Superman, in that she has an assortment of powers instead of just one like most Gifted.
- Loss, AKA: Glittering Riches, or “Glitter,” (Rarity) represents Thievery. She’s an inventor who’s extremely intelligent when it comes to mechanical aptitude, and she raked in a fortune when she invented a radar that could pinpoint the location of and identify gemstones from within the earth. By day she’s “Glittering Riches,” an eccentric billionaire who’s well respected but extremely corrupt behind the scenes, and by night she’s “Loss,” the never-been-caught superburglar who has an insatiable lust for rare and valuable gemstones. Her Gifted power is the ability to turn invisible. Can you guess why she’s never been caught?
- Ambrose Jane (Applejack) represents Deception. She’s a gambler, a liar, and a drunken kickboxer. She’s never once told an honest word, and she certainly doesn’t plan to, but she’s become filthy rich and gambled it all away hundreds of times. She made a bet with Captain Long Shot which resulted in Long Shot losing her most prized airship, which Jane crashed into a mountain in a drunk stupor. She’s currently on the run from Long Shot.
- Captain Long Shot (Rainbow Dash) represents Treachery. She’s the captain of the most feared band of airship-pirates in the all of Neverfree, and also has the biggest hat in the world (Which makes her the best pirate in the world by default). She hunts bounties, searches for hidden treasure, and always promises to share it with her crew! That is, if her crew ever managed to survive her expeditions. It’s weird, they always seem to get attacked by monsters, and Long Shot’s always the sole survivor. Oh well. They’ll all be sorely missed. More booty for Cap’n Long Shot!
- Scarlet Haze (Pinkie Pie) represents Fear. She’s an alchemist who was experimenting on mind-altering drugs to create an anti-depressant of some sort, when she accidentally knocked over a concoction that made a mind-altering gas fill her lab. Her brain was forever tarnished by the gas, and it gave her a very prominent split personality. She now teeters between insanely happy and horrendously paranoid. She always laughs while she’s talking, be it happy laughter or nervous laughter, so her voice is always jittering and vibrating.
- Dr. Scuttlebug (Fluttershy) represents Hatred. She was once an extremely well respected scientist who won various awards for her contributions to Neverfree Researchers Guild. The five heads of the guild later discovered that she had been doing illegal experiments on insects and creating genetically enhanced superbugs. She was stripped of her position, her test subjects were scheduled to be destroyed, and her lab equipment was confiscated. As a result, she sent her test subjects, an army of giant superbugs, to devour the five heads of the guild, and stole all of their research equipment, and vanished. There’s an enormous bounty out for her. Lucky for her, nobody knows where she is. Except the audience. You guys. She’s in a hollowed out tree in the middle of the forest, doing horrible experiments with her bug friends.
And last, Loss (Rarity) WIP preliminary blah blah for Neverfree.
Loss is just her codename. Sort of, anyway. She leaves the word ‘Loss’ written at the crime scene whenever she steals something.
However, she’s not always an Opalburgler, she’s normally a fance-shmancy and well respected inventor who made a considerable fortune inventing a radar that detects and identifies rare gemstones. However, what her peers don’t know is that she’s using that technology to locate and steal gemstones all over Neverfree. Her ‘real’ name is “Glitter,” which is short for “Glittering Riches.”
Why would she resort to thievery when she’s already filthy rich? Because, bitch loves gems.
She’s hanging from her whip. I know it’s hard to tell. Her whip has three gemstones on the end.
