FIFTIES AU ANYONE??? i was thinking about willbee and then queer things by ruth wallis stsrted playing and everything else just kinda evolved from there. the current concept is berenice needed a beard and ended up going for will because he kinda just does whatever he's asked and he seemed weirdly desperate... turns out, he ALSO needed a beard and berenice only realizes this on their wedding night. shenanigans ensue. i like to imagine they both just stood awkwardly in front of their wedding bed until they came to the realization they BOTH don't want to do that and will just goes to sleep on the couch.
in this au lenore is living her best life as a bigender icon (presents as a man to the public, presents as a bit of both to her friends and annabel and yes you can read that as plural if you want) + married to annabel. OR annabel is lavender married to prospero and lenore is lavender married to duke but honestly i just want lennabel to be happily married for once 💔
pluto and eulalie are married, i'd say eulalie's dad found pluto and was like "hey so you like weird creepy little things right? is this a good enough husband for you?" and surprisingly they actually hit it off.
montresor and ada are disastrously married i haven't gotten into the specifics of that but... well, you can guess the gist of that.
don't ask me what morella duke and prospero are up to just yet. especially not morella i haven't a clue (i could base it off the story she's based on?). prospero is a doctor and if he isn't married to annabel he's definitely pulling the 'too busy to marry' card. duke's a famous magician, maybe he's got a flirty persona going on (for entertainment purposes and also so he can play off love life questions with a 'well, it's hard to settle down when you're a guy like me *wink*' sorta thing if that makes sense.)
bereulapluke, obviously. although it's probably a bit more complicated because eulalie just doesn't think she needs to explain the sitch to berenice (so basically berenice thinks she's eulalie's mistress LMAO), pluto and duke i'm not entirely sure about but i know that they're not together (yet), and plulalie's going okay but pluto is kinda having trouble with the idea that yeah he can like men too and his wife is okay with that.
